i booked DD's 2 weeks ago for the end of may.
i booked DS's sept baptism about 4 months before he was born in july 
it was the restaurant i was worried about--not the church

I started making calls in JUNE (baby was born 7.30) and found that my top 3 restaurant choices were already booked for the date we reserved for his christening - SEPTEMBER 27th.  YES, 3 mos in advance.

I just booked DS's for 6/13... but we are having it in my mom's yard w/ a caterer and tent.. I was more interested in getting a date w/ the church w/ the deacon that DH & I love.

The place I wanted to have it at is already booked for May! We are having a private christening with our family priest so we are coordinating 3 things here church, priest and hall/restaurant!
God this is like booking a freaking wedding

a week after ds was born i booked it . ds was almost 8 weeks old when we baptized him
eta: it also depends what ur doing. we just did church and dinner at a restaraunt. some people hire djs a hall etc which needs much more time than just the 7 weeks i needed
