Cost of pre-natal vitamins...
I had NO idea how expensive pre-natal vitamins were! I've been taking the free-samples that my RE gave me, but I just filled my script. $46 WITH insurance...

For me it was $36. I've filled it once and when those run out I'll be getting something OTC.
ETA: One a Day makes a pre-natal that has the two pills. You can print a coupon off their website too!

That's exactly what I told DH as we were walking out of CVS! When I am prego. I'd feel better spending that kind of money.. but while TTC, I'm going to stick to OTC. It's insane!

DH and I said the same thing. And once I'm preggo I'm sure I'll want to stick with what I've been taking for fear of getting sick. Plus, with a baby on the way I bet they'll be plenty of other things to spend $$ on!

Re: Cost of pre-natal vitamins...
Mine was $50 and I was shocked and said that I will not spend that again! I bought OTC and had a bad allergic reaction so Disney Princess vitamins with an extra folic acid pill it is for me!!

Re: Cost of pre-natal vitamins...
yea... they're pricey.
I was taking prescription ones a few months ago but couldn't find ones that agreed with my stomach. I'm currently just taking a womens multi w/ a folic acid supplement. I'm going to talk to the RE about that tomorrow, actually.

My Target vitamins cost me $6.99 (I think) for 200 and they have the right amounts of everything, including Folic Acid.

Re: Cost of pre-natal vitamins...
HI..I am new to the TTC world, but i have been taking pre-natals prescribed by my doctor. I have thought they are fairly cheap...
Just yesterday, I payed a little under $4 for mine, HOWEVER, it is only for a one month supply, so I guess that does add up over time???
When you pay approx $50, how many pills is that for?

I pay $50/month for a ONE MONTH supply of my prenatals........Citranatal Assure.
If anyone takes an OTC make sure you also take a DHA supplement with it. It's really important for the baby's brain development when you're pregnant.

I was thinking the same until the RE nurse said " Well when you find out you are prego you will have been for 4 weeks, so why wait till then?" I had to agree so I forked out $40 but I think if your insurance co has a mail order you can get up to 90 days and its not that expensive as lets say $40 month

Re: Cost of pre-natal vitamins...
I pay $50 for a month supply of prescription pre-natal vitamins. My OB's office had a $10 off coupon for the next 10 refills (savings of $100) so now I pay $40. Definately look for manufacturer's coupon!

Re: Cost of pre-natal vitamins...
Hmmm, now i am wondering about my vitamins. The bottle just says 'Prenatal plus tablet'. Are there specific brand names that are better than others? Maybe I should call my pharmacist.

That's NUTS - I bought the Target brand, and they've got the exact same ingredients as my colleague, that had a prescription.

I have the Target brand too. I compared it to my prescription vitamins and the ingredients are the same. The only difference is the prescription vitamins have a higher dosage of ingredients and also has a stool softener in it.
