ideas for backsplash?
I am stuck... dark cabinets, light floors, walls and granite.. should I do a darker backsplash? Also has anyone done a mural behind the stove?
I am really bad at this stuff, any help would be appreciated :) Image Attachment(s):

Oh how I covet your floor
I would do in the same color family as your floors.

i would keep the backsplash neutral with maybe a small hint of color.

Re: ideas for backsplash?
I would definitely do a dark backsplash, dark window treatments (roman shades), and I would paint an accent color on the wall where your sliders are... that whole wall.
Your kitchen is so beautiful, really gorgeous, but seems cold to me with all that "light" and all that tile.
The more I look at your kitchen - the more it's my dream kitchen!!!

I did a tin backsplash, if you check out the "show me your kitchens" post on page 1 of the home board, there is a pic in there.

Re: ideas for backsplash?
Great ideas! Thanks Ladies. I wasnt sure what color to paint so I went neutral, painting the back wall sounds like a good idea. There is definitely alot of natural light but my backyard is very shadded and faces North so we dont get much SUN. So we tried to keep it bright.
Has anyone seen or done a mural behind their stove? I was in Cancos and they had murals that were painted into the tumbled marble??

Beautiful kitchen!
What kind of material did you use for the flooring? It looks great! Is it travertine?

Re: ideas for backsplash?
Thanks! Our den off the kitchen has a brown accent wall, maybe I should use that color on the wall with the windows? It is mocha brown. Here is a pic.
The floor is travertine, my husband picked it out. It was much lighter and then after they sealed it the colors really came out. Image Attachment(s):

Re: ideas for backsplash?
OMG just gorgeous!!! I absolutely love your tiled floor. I would pick a color out of the floor that you love and go with something like that for the backsplash. I also agree with another posted that said to paint that long wall an accent color. Pick a warm color out of the floor tile and warm up all that tile with a darker color on the wall. You have so many windows that you can't really put any pictures or art on that long wall, so warming up that wall with a darker color would make the room feel more cozy. And than add some solid panels to the windows. That will really soften the tile up also and give you room an over all cozy warm comfortable feeling. GL! Again gorgeous kitchen!!!

Yes I love the way it looks. I saw something in Cancos where you could order a design on tumbled marble. I am seriously thinking about that. I am going to go back and look at it again.

Re: ideas for backsplash?
We have a similar color scheme. We wanted something simple and plain. (not our forever home) So we chose the light tumbled marble 4x4 tiles to match the flooring and small darker brown inserts spread out.
I will try to post pics tonight.

we have the same cabinets and tile floor (and exact design by the way, too) we went for a similar backspalsh to the floor with brown inserts...although it will not be put up until the new year...we changed our mind about the backsplash last minute...we went with 4 x 4 size tiles..

we did a tumbled stone backsplash in the same colors as this pic. home depot sells them, we did a mix of 3 colors. we had the tile guy install them on an angle. the colors would look good with your floor. we love it

Re: ideas for backsplash?
Ours is very similar to yours but we have hardwood floors. Here's my post with photos:
Our kitchen
Our granite is very busy and tough to coordinate with the backsplash, so we went with textured white subway tile and dark emperador marble mini-subways for the border.

I was JUST going to say this! We have a tin ceiling and I'd LOVE to bring it down as a backsplash. It would be REALLY easy to clean and totally pop against the dark cabinets.

Re: ideas for backsplash?
How about a glass backsplash such as this (from Lowes)
#1 might be too busy to match your floors,
just found #2, its neutral (or at least looks that way online) and would look pretty without taking away from the colors of your cabinets or floor Image Attachment(s):

This is an awful camera phone pic, but you get the idea, the tiles match the floor.

Re: ideas for backsplash?
Thank you for all the ideas! I decided to go with tumbled Noce 4x4 on an angle (matches the floor) and a mural above the range on tumbled durnago (with no grout) and framed with durango roping.
The mural has some blue in it which I really liked.
MURAL
It will be 5 tiles wide by 3 tiles (6x6).
