Bassinet to crib question

My son is 5 weeks old. just wondering when you move them from your room in the bassinet (for those that did this) to the crib. anything special we should do to make the transition easier. Im starting to nap him in the crib now but he doesn't stay a sleep in his crib very long.
TIA

Re: Bassinet to crib question

i started napping him in the crib during the day...DD was 6 wks when i transitioned but DS was only 3 wks! i found we both slept better apart.
anyway, i put him in there swaddled and in the same corner every time. noise machine, dark room....worked well both times.
eventually they settle in!

Re: Bassinet to crib question

I'm planning on moving him into his crib at 3 months. He naps in his crib now and likes it just fine. but his nighttime routine now is change, swaddle, feed in the dark then placed right into bassinet...try that but then transition him in his crib.

Re: Bassinet to crib question

i moved my son from the bassinet to the crib at 6 weeks (only because he was getting to big for the bassinet) and he sleeps so much better in the crib it made such a big difference . . . i think he is more comfortable . . . i never put him down for naps in the crib before the we moved him ( and still don't!) and he did fine.

Re: Bassinet to crib question

we moved Chloe to her crib at 3 1/2 months. We all slept much better. This is also when I established her bed time (7pm). In hindsight, we would have done it earlier

Tyler naps in his crib now. I think I will put him in his crib at night at three months - although I know he will sleep better/longer if I do it before then. I just can't think of him not being right next to me all night long just yetChat Icon

I started to do naps during the day in the crib at 6 weeks, and then put him in the crib at night at 9 weeks. I tried to do it early in case he started to know the difference. I had no problem at all.
