Walk through Question

I know you should run the dishwasher and washer/dryer to make sure they work.

This might be a stupid question but should i bring detergent and like a dish to be washed in the dishwaster, and a towel to throw in the washer and dryer to see if everything gets cleaned and dried?

Sorry if this is a stupid question just not sure!

TIA

Re: Walk through Question

we ran everything.
we didn't bring items to wash, but our RE turned everything on.

also, bring a digital camera to document any problems that weren't there during your inspection and immediately show them to your RE and your attorney.

YES!!! lol- We ran the dishwasher- but found out after we moved in that although the dishwasher ran- it was stuck on one setting and didn't wash the dishes. Chat Icon

We had pictures and it didn't do us any good. Our choices were to walk away from the house (not likely after 5 months of back and forth with these horrible people) or accept it for what it was.

Their attorney wouldn't even look at the pictures.

God how I hate the previous owners. Chat Icon They got away with everything and got WAY too much for the house (which I now realize that my rose colored glasses are off)

Re: Walk through Question

Def. run everything...also, it's a good idea to bring something with you to try out each outlet in the house to make sure they are working. We brought a nightlight to check each one.

I feel your pain! Our house ultimately sat vacant for months and then there was a broken window in the storm door, a leak in the bathroom, etc. The seller's attorney just kept saying the house was being sold as-is and if we wanted to walk away, so be it, and they would have an open house that weekend and list it for $30,000 more than we were paying. Meanwhile the executrix of the estate selling the house was in Florida and had pre-signed everything so he didn't even go back to them, just made these decisions on his own.

However, we were advised by friends and family to check all of the outlets and appliances and look for leaks, etc. We did take pictures but as I mentioned, they didn't make any difference.
