Help settle a dispute on carpet

OK, so, I had an estimate on carpet from Empire. not sure if I got a good deal or not but they can install on Friday. Initially the quote was 3600 and then I got them down to 2475 or something like that. It's 3 bedrooms and a wide hallway. It's nylon pile carpet (Stainmaster) supposedly good quality.

This is the upstairs of the house. Would you carpet it all in the same color or do different colors for each room? I was putting all the same color. It's called peanut shell. My husband thought all the rugs should be different colors. WWYD?

Re: Help settle a dispute on carpet

I recently carpeted almost the entire upstairs. All of the rooms are the same color. For me, I like how it ties all of the rooms together. The paint can be different, but it flows nicely when everything is the same on the floor.

See, that's what I am doing...painting different but putting the same color carpet. He thinks I'm wrong.

I agree with you. If it's a nice, neutral color the rooms will look drastically different with the various paint colors, but will still flow together nicely because of the carpet.

Ask him if he would do different color hardwood floors if that's the direction you were going, or if all the rooms would be the same "color" wood Chat Icon

That's so funny...that's exactly what I said to him about the wood floors!

Some of our rooms. All with the same grey carpet, but very different paint colors.

Re: Help settle a dispute on carpet

just make sure the carpet is neutral enough that it goes with cool and warm tones on the walls.

Re: Help settle a dispute on carpet

i wish all of ours were the same color... especially if the rooms are not designated for anything yet (children wise).... our two bedrooms (not the master) had dark green and blue carpet, kinda limited the colors for a baby room

Re: Help settle a dispute on carpet

i agree with everyone and say all the same color - that is what we have on our second floor but i would like re-carpet ours though to something a little nicer....i think using the same color will make the space seem larger and tie everything together for sure....you win! Chat Icon

Re: Help settle a dispute on carpet

I miss my carpeting in the upstairs! I was in someone's house this weekend and she had all the bedrooms and hall the same color but had oak saddles at each doorway and it looked great.
