What do you do IF anything when they just won't stop screaming??!!

I am not sure if this is part of reflux or if she just wants to be held BUT one of my DD has been up ALL night the past couple of nights. I was able to get her back to sleep by putting her on my stomach BUT last night NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING would console her.

What do you do?? Anything?

I called the pediatrician when he had a night that he was crying like that. Our pediatrician does not feel that crying for more than about 1-2 hours can possibly be normal. SHe started us on all the testing for milk protein allergy, etc. As it tunrs outr, we really only had 1-2 nights that were so terrible like that Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . Did you have 2 girls? Congrats.

Did you try a paci or swaddling? Has DD not pooped in a while? When Mason fusses (I know some pple don't agree), but his paci works every time. I used to swaddle him, but he no longer likes that.

I had a screamer too ;)

I would:
-push him around the house in the snap n go
-put him in the car for a drive around the block
-hold him tightly, walk in circles around my house and whisper shhhh and talk quietly in his ear (I'm sure you did that)
put him down for 5 mins to compose myself
-if it gets really bad, I would call your ped. DS ended up having reflux and a milk protein allergy. as soon as we switched to nutramigen and started zantac, screaming stopped.

Chat Icon for you - b/c I know it's not easy!!!!

eta: I agree with the above poster about the pooping. DS would scream when he didn't poop for a day too.

Pacifier worked for like 2 minutes and then she continued to spit it out. She has definetely pooped. I also tried to swaddle her and she was not having that eitherChat Icon

So I guess it could be part of reflux then? It's getting out of control. She is ok during the day but at night...OMGChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ohhh - I didn't realize she had reflux.
I would try propping her at night. I would roll a blanket on the side of DS and prop him against it.. so he was sort of sleeping on his side. You can also put something under her crib mattress to elevate it a bit near her head so she isn't so flat...

There were nights that DS slept on me too, because nothing else would work.

When all else failed, I would plug my blow dryer in and put it on full blast! For some reason the "white noise" of the blow dryer would calm her enough that I could use the other tactics to get her to sleep!

hold them, rock them, sing, shush in their ear (loudly--like from the happiest baby on the block), there are some nights though its just a bad night

When all else failed, I used to get in the car and drive. It wasn't too often but it worked. We also used to run water and stand by it with DS. The vacuum also helped. If it's reflux, perhaps put her upright in the swing? Sorry sweetie. Chat Icon
