My DD is just not getting better. I don't know what to do...

I've been posting that she is and has been sick for a long time. She had two rounds of antibiotics and after the second, went back to being sick again. I brought her to the dr. on Thurs. and was told to let it run it's course, she doesn't have a fever, keep her home etc. I kept her home all weekend, she got a little better and brought her back to daycare.

Now she REALLY seems sick. Still no fever, but she is sweating, same cough, tons of sniffles and mucus and she is not sleeping tonight. It's like she's in a daze. She also vomited again like she did on Thurs. when I posted.

I don't know what to do. I'm a first time Mom, does anyone have any advice?

PS- I am scared it might be H1N1.

Our pediatrician always told us to guage Alex's illness not so much by the fever and symptoms, but by how she was acting - if overly cranky or lethargic, I knew there was a problem and would bring her in, even if there wasn't a fever.

I would bring her back - especially if she's vomiting. It doesn't sound like the flu to me if she doesn't have a high fever, but it could be a bad virus. I'd bring her in to be checked just in case, and in the meantime, keep checking her temp every few hours to make sure it doesn't spike and make sure she's hydrated.

I didn't see your earlier post, so forgive me if you have already seen this input.

Was the vomiting a one time thing, or did she vomit more than once in a short span of time? The reason I ask is that after DS started daycare last year, he got a couple of really bad colds where he was coughing constantly. It would happen where he would vomit just because he was coughing so hard. He would vomit, get all the phlegm up and then was a little better. The doctor told me sometimes that happens when they have that much phelgm.

I could be wrong, but if she had H1N1, I think she would still have a fever, and I think you get a dry cough, not a wet one. I hope she's OK, but if you are still nervous, take her back to the doctor. I always bring DS in if I am in doubt.

I agree I would call your ped, not all kids will get a fever. I'd go with your Mommy gut, you know when she isn't herself. I hope she feels better soon

I would bring her back to the doctor...and, if they didn't help me there I would go to another pediatrician or an Urgent Care clinic. I hope she feels better soon.

Thanks fort your replies. The vomiting is a result of coughing hard. She is definitely not herself and just fell asleep a few minutes ago.

I am going to bring her back to the ped. and like you all said, if I get no help, will bring her elsewhere. My Mommy gut is really strong on this one!

It seems like my kids are sicck all the time too...Well at least Ronan. he had different viruses for like 3 weeks straight. They are not even in day care! I had read somewhere that the average child gets sick something like 20 times in their first year. Have you tried the probiotics?
