Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

I feel like I'm constantly screaming at DD... she is 2 and a half and is definitely in the terrible two's stage. And my hormones are so out of whack, I am so short tempered that I feel like I'm always mad or yelling at her foir jumping on me or hurting my stomach and I feel like sometimes I am so out of control. Anyone else going through something similar? Any tips?

I can't even imagine feeling the way I do and chasing around a toddle. You ladies are amazing. Just keep reminding yourself that. You rock. Make sure DH pitches in to help when he is home. Just b/c your supermom doesn't mean you have to do everything on your own. You need your rest too. Feel Better.

DD is 18 months and I feel like I lose patience with her alot quicker nowadays. The whining and tantrums for no reason are harder to deal with when you are pregnant and exhausted. Some days are bad. Then I feel so guilty if I raise my voice at her b/c I know she doesn't understand. Well only 19 more weeks and then it will be alot better right? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

I think the whining gets to me and I have less patience now. I get to the point sometimes where I need DH to take over bc I'm so frustrated.

But I actually find myself LESS tired this pregnancy, maybe bc I can't just relax and worry about just me, I have to make sure more is taken care of with DS.

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

i am definitely more exhausted and in more pain this timee around... especially since ds is only 13 months.... last time around i worked ft nights so i had a good excuse to come home and lie in bed alllll day (no wonder i gained 60 lbs)... now i am lucky if i get 5 hours.. and my poor dh definitely gets the brunt of my mental insanity

Well I don't have a toddler, I can't even imagine! I'm praying for DS's nap to come quicker and he is only 10 months! You ladies deserve a break from your DH!!

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

I definitely thing it's harder, but maybe for different reasons than you.

When I was pregnant with #1, I could just lay down whenever I wanted to (after work) and take a nap. Now I have a 2 year old who needs my attention no matter how tired I am.

Also, he is getting really fast and trying to run after him while 8 months pregnant is getting to be tough. It's also harder to get up off the floor when I am playing with him, harder to carry him when he wants to be picked up because I am slower and very pregnant at this point.

I can't hold him on my lap like I want to because my tummy gets in the way.

I don't think my patience is any different, I am just dealing with a 2 year old that I didn't have to deal with when I was pregnant the first time.

So to answer your question, yes I think it's harder to be pregnant with a toddler! Chat Icon

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

Yea I feel like I have less patience and more patience at the same time if that makes sense. The little things that would have bothered me pre-pregnancy I have been letting go. We used to not let Kaydyn climb on things, now she's on everything and unless she is in danger I just let her climb.

But I am WAY more tired this time around. Last time around I left the house at 8:15am and I was walking back in the door at 5:45pm. Then I would go to sleep Chat Icon Now we leave at 7:20/7:30am and we don't get home until about 7:30pm. Then we play with Kaydyn and do our nightime routine and she's in bed by 9:30ish and I'm usually asleep by 10 after I take a quick shower.

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

Not really, I was just exhausted the first trimester, but it's gotten a lot better. I find that I forget I am pregnant a lot of times since I am so bust running around and doing stuff with her. It's making the time go faster. But I can imagine that as the weeks go on it will get harder. Chat Icon

That's exactly how I feel. Most times I completely forget/ignore that I'm even pregnant this time.

Um, yes!

When I was pregnant with DD, I could indulge and relax when I was home. Now? Ha fat chance!

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

me!!! my DS is 14 months old and just very loud and active and destructive. I do yell at him, he just laughs and does whatever he wants anyway. I am very short on patience and i'm only 9 weeks Chat Icon I have the worst all day/ everyday sickness that I'm on a prescription now, doesn't 100% work. sometimes I'm having such a bad day I wonder what I was thinking having them so close but i know it will be so worth it once A)I'm out of the first trimester B) of course once baby is here.

I feel bad for DS but he is such a happy kid so he doesn't seem affected

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

OMG YES!!! It is so much harder this time around. My DS is 3 and I just find myself being short tempered. Plus I can't nap when I need to. Or even just rest. And like you said I'm always trying to protect the belly. I think he finally gets that part of it, but I always feel bad if I scold him when before I would have had the patience to handle it differently.

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

I hear ya! It's so rough. DS is such a good boy but I just feel so physically exhausted! I feel so bad that I don't have the energy to do all I want to do with him! What scares me more is that I'm worried if it will be even harder once DS#2 is born!

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

i hate to say this but it is good practice for when the baby comes along! i thought it was horrible when i was PG but find it just as hard now that DS is here and DD is in the thick of her terrible two's! i am sleep deprived and crabbier than ever-throw a tantruming DD into the mix and it ain't pretty some days!

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

Yes! I am so exhausted all the time and it is so hard to deal with DD especially when she is cranky. All I want to do is sleep and instead I am cleaning, cooking dinner and giving her a bath when we get home from work at night. Add my constant nausea and it is a freaking nightmare!

my patience is fine but i am SO TIRED!!! there are no days where i can come home from work and just relax with my feet up. i don't sit down until at least 8pm when DS goes to bed. it's so different from the first time around

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

surprisingly, not much. i mean, it's harder to chase after DS, and he's getting sooo heavy for me to carry since he's not walking yet, but he's a good baby, easily entertained, and when we're home we do the same stuff we always did.

talk to me when i'm 35 weeks and DONE Chat Icon

Re: Anyone find being pregnant harder with a toddler?

yes, my fuse is shorter than ever and I often end up taking it out on DH. I went back to work the week I got my BFP too so tired doesn't even begin to describe it! My sciatica is getting better but when it was bad it was nearly impossible to pick up DD.
