OPKs and having the bladder of a small child

I haven't tried OPKs yet BUT I have the bladder of an infant. I know once I know that I can't pee for four hours - that is all I will be able to think about so

I guess my question is, has anyone used OPKs and only held it for like 2 or 3 hours and still got good results or should I not even bother?

TIA!

I do too! and I did fine...I only did 3 hours and sometimes cheated on that and still got a smiley. Just try not to drink anything...

I did from 12-3....

Honestly, I don't think I ever held it in for 4 hours. Maybe 3 hours tops, if I have to go, I can't wait Chat Icon

I only used them for the past 2 months and never had a problem, got a + on the same day both months.

I try to limit my intake of fluids a couple of hours before, just because I know I wont be able to hold it.

I never held it at all and they have always been accurate. I usually use FMU but I have also on occasion used an OPK in the afternoon but not after holding it in for any particular amount of time. Personally, I don't really think it's necessary. I have not had an OPK not be right so far. Chat Icon

Re: OPKs and having the bladder of a small child

For the past couple months I have been working with an RE and he gave me directions on how to use OPKs. (like there isn't enough reading material included in the box!)

His directions say to hold it for at least 2 hours. I always went for more, but I think if 2 hours works for the UCONN Fertility Center, it works for me!

I use FMU. Not only is it hard to hold it in that long, but I also read that you're supposed to not drink during that time frame either. That is IMPOSSIBLE for me. I'm always feeling dehydrated so there's no way I can go without water.

Re: OPKs and having the bladder of a small child

I have the world's smallest bladder. While I'm at work I drink so much water that I can pee every 20 minutes. Literally, I have. I tried FMU with the OPKs this month and it didn't work for me. This last week I started not drinking anything after 3pm. I was able to hold it in for 2 1/2 to 3 hours by not drinking anything.

I believe you can use FMU with the CBEFM, if you want to go that route.
