Is there a trend that you started wearing before everyone else?
I started wearing bib necklaces a long time ago, and I had Hunter boots before anyone did....it's so frustrating to see everyone wearing these styles now, because I feel like a poser even though I'm not lol
Is there something fashion-related that you had wayyyy before everyone else? If so, what?

I tend to stick to what I like independent of trends. I have always been into bright colors, statement pieces (jewelry and clothing), lace, hobo bags and prints. These things go in and out of fashion. So while I may look more like a follower when they are in, at least there are a ton more stores offering what I love! So I can stock up, and when the trend goes out and everyone else moves on, I can keep on rocking it as I always have!

I am probably not nearly cool enough to have this happen, but I know what you mean about buying up things when they are in style! This year purple is EVERYWHERE and I have gotten so many things, but then I get annoyed every day I wear purple when like 8 other people around me in the office are too. Some years you can't find any jewel tones but that's what looks good on me, so when they're around I go nuts!

the whole feather and ruffle thing, it was in europe at least two or three years ago and when I was there a few years ago picked up a few things and now its EVERYWHERE here...

I don't know if that's considered a trend though... I certainly see a lot more people wearing them now.

I dont think this rule applies to me but i feel that way sometimes about pop culture. Like bands and TV shows that become SO popular that i was listening to/watching WAY before they were popular and then i feel like I jumped on the bandwagon when meanwhile, i was one of the first fans or whatnot

This happened to me with Twilight. I read it a trillion years ago and then all of the sudden ...BAM... I knew it would be a teen thing though once it caught on.. I read it when I was looking for books to rec to my students.

Not to me, but my DH is CONVINCED he brought back big sunglasses by wearing these huge blue blockers he found somewhere
I am not really a "trendy" dresser I buy what I like. This Fall I don't really like anything!

My husband always points out the things that I have done ahead of their popularity. I am not sure if I can think of anything recent but he notices it more than I do. Years ago, I switched over to white gold, silver and platinum long before the trend away from yellow gold happened. Then I carried Vera Bradley bags not thinking that they would ever become popular with anyone else. I worked in the eyewear industry a long time ago and I love to stay ahead with that but the stores sometimes only have a selection of what is in at the moment.

Except now, I "used" to. I would mix and match cheap and expensive. I would make my own combination of outfits that nobody would know where it was from. Target cheap necklaces with Ann Taylor jacket and shoes from DSW.
I was very good with colors mix and match. A very light yellow shirt or greyish blue with Charcoal pants. And surpirisingly everything worked. The good old day!!!

I never really dress "in style"
Sure I buy clothes that are "in" if they fit well, but generally I wear what suits my figure.
Like jeans, I would never wear skinny bc I dont like how they look on me..but bootcut I love, even if they are out I will rock them 
It stinks as I get older it is sometimes hard to find staple items that I love.
Oh one thing is flats..Im tall and always liked to wear flats to work bc they are comfy and I dont need to extra height..I was glad they came in style and stocked up on cute ones

I have been wearing riding boots for year Oh yeah, that is because I actually ride.
Seriously, I always laugh when they try to bring the equestrian look to mainstream.
Other than that, I carried Vera Bradley a while back. I also wore silver tone jewelry (silver, white gold and platinum) long before it was popular. I remember in jr. high, a friend got me a yellow gold charm and very rarely wore it. I wore tie belts and grosgrain ribbon belts before they were considered trendy.
I also hate it when something is in fashion now and I have wanted it for a while and didn't have the money before but have it now. Like Hunter Wellies and a Burberry trenchcoat. These things I wanted for years and when I was younger I never had the money for them. Now I am in a position to buy them but am not sure if I want to jump on the bandwagon for fear of looking like a follower...

I do the same thing. Now I love my designer clothes but I do mix Target with designer jeans and shoes so that you can't tell.

my father wasnt in my life as a kid so I used to always wear his airforce dog tags. All of a sudden in JHS (circa early 90's) everyone in their mother was wearing them.

I know what I can and can't pull off and if its trendy and I KNOW I can't get away with it...I won't wear it just to follow the crowd.
I like what I like and if it fits and looks good on, I'm a happy camper!
