Hardwood Floors

How many coats of polyurethane is standard for refinishing hardwood floors. We were told 3 but quoted with only 2?

Re: Hardwood Floors

do you pay extra for the 3 then, or does it not matter that much between 2 & 3? Does 3 make them more durable or something?

I think the standard is 2 but our company suggested 3 since we have a large dog and a child.

2-3 is standard. 3 is better then 2, but its not bad if you only do 2. The more coats the better. less scratching and it will last longer.

Re: Hardwood Floors

I would 3 if it's oil-based poly and 4 if it's water-based.
