How early is too early in the AM....
to mow your lawn? Just curious since DH was out there at 9am on the dot this morning and I was wondering if that might have p-o'ed some of my neighbors.

On a Sunday, I think 9am is too early. 10 I think would have been better. IMO. Some people work 6 days a week and Sunday is the only day off.

Public Safety in Islip advised that anytime between 8am and 11pm is okay for noise. I personally like to wait until 10 just in case we have some late sleepers.

 DH is out there now... I hope we're not anyone's neighbors! (He started about 9:20ish)
He was hesitant on going out that early, but we heard other power equipment running so off he went!

I'd say 10:00 but I'd also try to watch neighborhood custom - if it seems like the other neighbors are up and out early then I'd say earlier is OK but if you notice it's generally quite until later in the day you might not want to be the first one out there.

The DH attempted to go out at 9 am this morning. I stalled him until about 9:45. I think 10 am is the earliest, but he is crazy.
Yesterday people were mowing away at 8 am

I think 10AM is the earliest. But now, I have just given up on anyone on my block having any sense of common courtesy SO what I do is when DH wakes up at 5AM, I wake up and close the window and at least put on the A/C fan so it will drown out some of the noise.
I am so tempted to let my car alarm go off when I leave at 6AM during the week, but so far I have resisted.

Okay, great question.
We wake up early M-F. I usually wake up early on Saturdays, too, to go out to LI. So Sunday is usually my day to sleep in. LST, yesterday, I had the chance to sleep in. Well, at 9:10, the landscapers for the house across the street came and started up TWO mowers and a blower.
Needless to say, I was pi$$ed. I really think that 10 is a RESPECTFUL time on weekends. When i waitressed, I wouldn't come home until 1 sometimes and I looked forward to sleeping late. There are people who work nights and would LIKE to sleep. Granted there are ear plugs, but there is also respect.

I think it's fine...I love waking up to the noise of lawn mowers...fresh cut grass always reminds me of childhood.
ETA: My kids don't let me sleep past 8 anyway

i think that is fine. we live across the street from a church and DH is out there sunday mowing our golf course haha for hours. and he has the blower and weed wacker out too.. ughh.. but it needs to be done.

just something to think about.. that person mowing at 9 am may be the person with only one day off a week and needs to get it done and would also like to not waste away his one day off mowing his lawn.
it may be annoying but its the summertime, but up your ACs and keep the windows closed and you shouldnt hear it!
i guess my neighbors must hate us when we had the landscapers here to do a clean up Easter Sunday morning 9 am haha and we live across the street from a church opps.. that is when they were available
and DH was out mothers day 9 am cutting up a huge tree branch that came crashing on our fence around 7am, using the chainsaw

on Sunday's, we always wait until 10-10:30. On Saturday's, we are out around 9 (usually the landscapers start up earlier then that)

The home directly across from my bedroom window, has their mower out every saturday morning at 8am, you could set your watch by it.
I personally don't mind it, (i could sleep thru the mower being IN my room) but my DH who wakes up everyday except saturday at 4:30am, curses the day they were born LOL.

I think 9 AM is fine. It's too hot after 10. I don't mind if others mow at 8, but we don't start until 9.

11? That's the start of the hottest part of the day! You won't usually be done until high noon.
I think 9 is fine.
If everyone gets an electric mower, and solar panels, there's almost no noise....

My dh waits until 9am.
Many people have off during the week so not sure what is the difference when the landscapers come by at 8am or earlier to mow?
