impatiens, impatiens, impatiens!!!
even i can't kill them.
impatients need mostly shade. I tried them in full sun last year and they did terrible.
Petunias are great in mostly sun. Low maintenance , but you do have to pull of the dead flower heads so new flowers grow back

I love Hydrangea Bushes
I agree - they come in multiple colors and depending on the acid in the soil, will change colors through the season. All you have to do is plant them and when they die in the fall, clip them back and they return in the spring and will get bigger/wider each year.

Re: My green thumb experts, please help!!UPDATED WITH PICS ON BOTTOM
I took eveyone's advice, and went with a list to Home Depot. I'm not finished as I have some bear spots and for those I'll be visiting a nursery for different flowers/plants.
It's not a pic for Better Homes and Gardens, but I think it came out great!! Image Attachment(s):

I would do Inpatiens. They will do amazing. They spread like crazy and then you just pull them out at the end of the year.
I told you I have a black thumb. What do you mean by "pulling them out"
Kill them. yank em out at the end of the season... it's the end of their life cycle anyway.
