switching to convertible seat from infant seat
what made you switch over to a convertible seat? is an infant seat any safer?
I have the peg perego primo viaggio. it is supposed to fit up to 30lbs and 30 inches. DD gets weighed and measured next week, but I think she's 18-20lbs, and definitely under 30 inches. But we don't use the infant seat as a carrier anymore. It's just too heavy with her in it. So, I don't know if we wait until she looks uncomfortable in her seat or hits the 30/30 mark, or if we switch her sooner.

Re: switching to convertible seat from infant seat
i switched at 8 months when DS was nearing the 20 pound mark. he could have stayed in it, but i couldn't stand holding it. he's much happier now in his convertible!

I had the Graco Snugride. I moved DD out of it and into the convertible seat right before she hit either the height or weight limit (now I don't remember which). She was 9 months old.

We moved her out when she seemed uncomforatble - around 10 months - she was immediately much happier (and she is a skinny little girl - not even 20 lbs yet and she is 14 months.)

Re: switching to convertible seat from infant seat
my sister just switched my niece over at 10 months because she is 21 lbs and she said Ella was getting to heavy to carry in the infant seat. HTH

Re: switching to convertible seat from infant seat
I switched simply because the infant carrier got too heavy at 9 months. I don't think there is really any difference since they're both rear facing.

Re: switching to convertible seat from infant seat
I have the Britax Companion. We moved DD out of it at 4 mths old, into the Britax convertible. She was just too uncomfortable in the infant seat even though she was a bit under the weight limit and it was just way too heavy to carry.
She loves her new seat and fits much better in it.

Re: switching to convertible seat from infant seat
Our infant seat went to 22 lbs, so when DC got close (I like to leave a margin of error in the weight limits), we switched them.

I could have written the same exact post..at DD's 5 month check up she was 18.5lbs and 26.5 inches...I'm planning on changing to the convertible seat in a few weeks when she's sitting up on her own safely, she already is but is still a bit wobbly, so that if I go shopping I can put her in the cart without worrying... ETA: I have the peg also and I'm soooo dissapointed with it!!!
