It is rude. Someone on the train here opened up a can of tuna. I HATE tuna and had to go to another carriage. I was so disgusted. Who opens a can of tuna on a train???
I feel your pain.

Ugh. This reminds me of a coworker who heats up a frozen salmon patty in the microwave and then carries it all the way back to her desk on the other side of the building.
She's like Pepe Le Pew carrying that thing back to her desk, leaving a stink trail behind.....

Regardless whether someone like the smell of popcorn, fish, tuna, etc or not, it completely unprofessional.
Bringing a bottle of water is OK. Food... not OK! Unless someone has a medical condition requiring them to do so, eating during a meeting is rude and unacceptable.
If it was a breakfast, lunch meeting, food would have been provided.

That reminds of the story on told on here a while ago about a guy I was sitting next to on the LIRR that was pulling out rolled up cold cuts out of is briefcase for a snack. So rank and not to mention weird.

A euphemism would make it sound good-"tuna on a train" as another phrase for sex or fishy bottom is worse
