Mom's of toddlers who swim...
What are your favorite floatation devices...for example...water wings? A vest? etc. etc.
Something like that?

I am having this dilemma myself. I know when I taught swimming that they told us to never have children in one thing all the time. Because no matter the floatation device, it will change how your child swims.
I just bought water wings for DS to try out, but he's a bit young for them. (19 months) He is getting used to them, but he doesn't grasp the concept of leaving his feet under him. (Because all this time he has been swimming to propel himself forward, with his legs kicking behind him.) Then again, all floatation devices are typically used when a child is an upright position. So I am completely lost!!!!   
I am actually thinking of getting the bathing suit with built in floaties. I hope to use nothing for 50% of the time and then alternate between the floaty bathing suit and the water wings for the other 50%.
In my teaching experience, vests are the hardest to swim in for small children. But every child is different. And every pool (and beach) is different for what they allow children to wear.
Did I confuse you more?

A little!!!
Well, we've been taking swim now for a very long time and she still isn't grasping the kicking, but can go underwater, etc and do everything else.
But a last minute getaway has come into play and I'm trying to figure out what to get her for the pool 
I guess I could also talk to her swim instructor.
Decisions!

I would bring swimmies. Floats don't help do much else other than give them someplace to sit in the water. Swimmies atleast help them stay totally submerged and learn how to keep themselves upright and also learn how to kick to get places.

I vote for swimmies, they always did a good job of keeping Nicholas upright, BUT, depending on where you are going, some places only allow approved life vests to be worn in the pool. So I would double check.

Logan HATES water wings.
I mean screaming, yelling, running away, NO MAMA NO WINGS!! kind of hate.
At swim lessons he uses one of those styrofoam bubble things on his back and that seems to give him the "illusion" of freedom, which is very important these days.
But I also have a small noodle for him when I'm in there with him.
The vests are tough, because it's hard to find one for kids under 3.

She HATES the noodle in swim class
I thought about getting the bubble for her that way she wouldn't feel too weird about things on her arms.
Guess i'll just have to try out both and see which one she freaks less about
