Mom of Toddlers - Screaming

Okay my Jack has quite a temper and it's starting to become an issue for us. Besides pushing his brother down the past few days (which we of course yell at him for), he has started to scream every time something is taken away from him or if he is doing something and we say no to him. It starts off as a quiet scream and then it keeps going.

I had this issue awhile back with kevin and I would scream back at him and that seemed to stop it. IT's not working with Jack. He will just walk away and then start laughing at me and that gets my blood boiling.

He's only 19months and still does not get time out. I have tried it. Not sure what else i can do. I know he is testing me and he has a real temper issue, just don't know what to do to stop it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try NOT using the word No, and maybe say we dont push our brother.
I found I used No to mant times with Matthew and it just sets him off now, and he throws a temper tantrum.Chat Icon

SPeak to him in a stern calm voice and put him on your lap for time out. I would put them on my lap, face out and hold them htere for a minute to a minute and a half until they got the concept.

Also ignoring the behovior works as long as he is not hurting his brother.

So frustrating. I think I use the word "fresh" with him more then 20x per week because he can be so fresh at times. Kevin is such a sweet kids and Jack while sweet can be so tempermental. And then the laughing just boils my blood.

Don't scream....that will only teach him to use that volume himself....speak in a normal voice but with a stern edge to it

Ignore the bad behavior. Once they realize that doesn't get your attention, they usually stop.

No advice, just Chat Icon. DD is going through the same thing. When she doesn't get her way, she stomps her feet and then throws her head backward. Needless to say, after she hits her head, then she REALLY cries.

I try to just hold her still and tell her in a calm voice that I don't like how she is behaving until she stops.

I hope this is a faze that passes quickly!
