You really get to 'know' people in this kind of environment so liking people is really easy. You become attached to their victories and heartaches.. it's strange but it happens.
Disliking - for me - is trickier, but it's the same basic theory. You see the things they say, you find yourself identifying patterns of behavior (attention seeking, drama causing, negative talk, aggressiveness, whatever) that you are not comfortable with and then you find yourself avoiding their posts in order to avoid feeling that 'way'.
BUT I don't think there is any 'active' or true dislike. I believe everyone here is intelligent enough to know that how someone seems online does not define the sum and substance of their personality. I like to believe that NOBODY on here would ever wish anyone ill based on the way that they 'post'.

I don't dislike anyone. There are a few who clearly think they're smarter and more in the know than someone else might...but there are also a lot who don't give themselves enough credit....
To answer, I rarely notice who posts what, but every now and then I form an impression. The person has to be really oboxious in a post for me to form an impression, though, and there's not too much of that on here.

i know i come across as snooty and harsh on the home board but i am really very down to earth. some threads in re: to furniture and decor just make me  . i should keep my comments to myself (and i do sometimes by not replying  ) but i hate to see people spend money on sub-par furniture items and dollar store resembling accessories.

I don't lurk all that often, but I do understand what you're saying. it's not that I "like" or "dislike" other posters, I just come to expect certain kinds or patterns of posts from particularly people. I think we all come to "know" each other's styles on here, and expect certain behavior and if its not that way all of a sudden, it is surprising.

There are a few poster I love even though I have never met them, A few I simply respect because of their intelligent, well thought out posts, and some I just cant stand because of drama, snarkiness, bullying, whatever..., but most of the time I cant remember who said what unless it REALLY stands out with respect to one of the 3 catagories.

Hmmm honestly I think people can't really hide who they are. For example I think some posters would think of me as helpful(TTC, Pregnancy, IF) while others may think I'm a b!tch(Posting on NFR, Career)
So no-because I kind of think I have people "figured out" an dthey usually don't disappoint. For example there is a regular poster on here that has a certain trait. This trait comes out in almost every post they make. I can almost think what they are going to say before they say it. I don't necessarily dislike this person-they seem very nice but this one trait annoys me. I can't say what it is because I think it will be a give away

It would take a lot for me to write someone off, even on here. People go through rough patches or have their crazy moments. I try to be forgiving and try to look past isolated incidents because I would hope others would do the same for me.

I have to say, I'm not emotionally attached to anyone here enough to really dislike them. In my eyes, I automatically like anyone until they do something really awful.
I disagree with a few, but disliking someone takes too much emotional energy that I don't really have, kwim?

Anyway, if I read correctly, the OP was sort of asking if whether one post can change an opinion of someone. For me, the answer is "no." Not one post. If that was the case, many of my close friendships would be gone based on either my posts or theirs. Everyone can have a bad day and everyone can say or do something that their friends disagree with.
I do form opinions about people based on their posts. In any setting, we form opinions of people based on the way that they communicate. Online, we may have less to go on because we cannot see body language or hear tone, but we certainly do have something to go on, especially if we have been following posts for a long time. I take longer to come up with an opinion about someone but I can see how people interact on here. I don't see a need to pretend that I don't see it. There have been a few instances where people have been different in person but I don't often see a truly different personality. I might see that someone is more shy on here or more shy in real life or that someone has read more of my posts than I realized but very few people are so much different in person.

I lurk on some boards and post somewhat regularly, although not as of late.
I think you can disagree with someone's opinion but at the same time have respect that it is their opinion. I not agreed with some posts, but that doesn't mean I don't "like" them on the boards.
But I don't think posters should be flamed or drama should be started b/c they post their opinions of themselves and their life. It's the drama queens and pot stirrers that bother me.
