Back From Transfer - With drama of Course
I'll be honest, yesterday I was put in a funk by my RE's office calling me. They received the results of the PGD and we got three normal embies....out of 14....11 abnormal....effed up embies.....I was bummed. I was sad. I cried. The nurse said that Dr. Stelling was not unhappy with this result...he was actually pleased. Sure..wasn't HIS 11 abnormal embies were they? Of course all I heard was "it only takes one..." Bite me okay? So...we go to the transfer this morning and the chick behind the desk signs me in and hands me the transfer payment sheet which typically has a zero balance on it. (TG I have insurance) My pen is hovering over the paper when she says "Oh, you are aware that you will owe $4260.00 on the 20th, right?" Uh....WRONG....So now there is drama...why do I owe so much money? I paid for the PGD in December. Something is wrong. (I was prepared for the possibility that I might have to pay $1200 for a cryo charge but $4200?!? The chick couldn't give me an explanation. Finally, DH notices the name on the top of the page is not mine. The girl apologizes and starts going through the papers she has in front of her. There isnt one for me on her desk. So then she says "Oh, right...you were an add on..." Then she shuffles in her desk drawer and finds my paper and THEN says..."Oh...wait...you were canceled." W T F?!? So now I am flipping out as she goes in the back to speak to the nurses. All I am thinking is that all three of my normal embies crapped out. I started crying. My bladder is about to explode, they made me drive all the way out to mineola instead of calling me. The girl comes back and says...I'm sorry...you're not canceled. The girl before you was canceled. Not you. Then she hands me my sheet (with a zero balance by the way) and I sit and wait.
After all this drama, everything worked like clockwork. I was shown the results of the PGD and Dr. Sung reiterated that it was an excellent result. "Some wind up with none to transfer." That falls in the category of "it only takes one" as far as I'm concerned. As of yesterday two were Grade A blastocycts and one was a grade B. We asked if I was okay with putting all three back in. (Hells yeah). Then I noticed the left side of the PGD report and realized something that I had forgotten. That I don't have to wait to find out the sex. In fact all three blasts are the same gender. At that point it became real. They weren't just some cells they were putting back in me. I really liked Dr. Sung. She was funny and seemed right on the ball. She had me watching the screen and showed me my transfer step by step. She said the transfer was perfect.
So now I wait. The excruciatingly hard part. My DH is being very cautious. He thinks I'm not being realistic in that I'm talking like I'm pregnant already. He said I'm the opposite of cautiously optimistic. I dont know how else to be. If I look at it as if this is going to fail then why the eff did I spend our "Europe Fund" for PGD? If this is going to fail then why do I keep sticking myself with needles every night? I dont know how to be in the middle. This is it...everything was perfect. I''m going with it. Caution is being thrown to the wind..."Now little ones....stick dammmit" Please pray for us!

OMG I can't believe all of the drama that you had to endure right before transfer! They should be paying for some RELAXATION for you now!
I am praying so hard that these little ones stick
At least now you know they are good embies and that they're genetically okay!
I know how you feel about acting like you are pregnant! I did that after my IVF without even realizing... I kept putting my hand on my belly! I'm praying that this works for you

Good luck. With PGD, you have a really good chance of them sticking. I am getting PGD done. Can you tell me what results they give you. I know that you get the gender, but what else did they tell you?

OMG - reading your post I felt like I was right there with you. YOu have a great attitude. And its true if you do not believe this will work than you wouldn't be here.
I am sending tons of your way and tons of .
OK and its pretty cool that you already know the sex. Thats crazy!!!!
Keep up the pos attitude. It actually feels better to be positive than negative. Let me tell you. I wonder if your positive attitude can rub off on people.

Re: Back From Transfer - With drama of Course
Posted by Domino I don't have to wait to find out the sex. In fact all three blasts are the same gender.
I have been thinking about you/this...since the male determines the sex of the baby, do you think that your previous issues may have more to do with the sperm, rather then the egg????? As in, if all X's made it (or all Y's) does DH have a chromosonal issue with the other sperm????
