I honestly wouldn't buy anything till after the shower!! You'll be surprised by how much you actually get and how little you'll have to buy yourselves!!

My cousin's baby is 9 months old and she was just telling me the other day that she hasn't bought ANYTHING for him since he was born! Her advice was to register for everythingggg

Don't buy anything yet. Register, see what you get as gifts and go from there.
I will be completely honest that between hand me downs and gifts, I did not buy my son 1 article of clothing until he was 17.5 months old

Ah yes.. the furniture we did order ahead of time, but the grandparents offered to pay for it.

We ordered that at 20 weeks...but the Grandparents bought it!!

The only thing we purchased ahead of time was the furniture and about a month ago BRU had a sale on the glidder and ottoman for 50% off so we also purchased that. Everything else we're waiting till after the shower to see what we get.

we ordered the furniture, but our parents both offered to split it up and buy it for us. We didn't have an official shower (our families are superstitious), but they did not a little something for us and we got a ton of stuff. A lot of the people I work with lent us a lot of stuff and threw me an amazing work shower. The only stuff I didn't get was the changing pad and diapers and stuff. we plan to get that this weekend (37 weeks). It is amazing how generous people are!

We bought the essentials off the registry as well as ordering the crib.
Pack N Play w/Bassinet so she has somewhere to sleep
Car seat and snap and go stroller (actually my mother and grandmother bought that for us)
Swing and bouncy seat (they were on sale!)
My father has this stuff (with the exception of the car seat and stroller) and will bring it to the house when I deliver the baby.
I'm not having shower, or am I having anything set up in the house until the baby is home. So I wanted to make sure we had the things we needed for when the baby came home.
Everything else, I'm sure will fall into place.
