I didn't stop picking him up. I tried to get him to walk as much as possible, but when I needed to I would still lift him. I had to get him in crib somehow! Chat Icon And shopping carts, the stroller, up into the car, etc. I think it's fine unless your doctor tells you otherwise. My DS wasn't that heavy though, maybe 25-27 lbs?

I never stopped! My DD weighed around 24 pounds by the end of my pregnancy.

It had no effect on my pregnancy. I even went 6 days overdue!

It is definately getting harder! I do leave bags and go back and get them after I drop him down in our apt just to alleviate some of the stress. I was holding bags and him on the ice yesterday---real fun

I am almost 35 weeks and still picking up my 26 month old. I try not too as much as I would have, but I need to in order to get her into her crib, the carseat, shopping carts, etc.

I try to make her walk as much as possible and she will climb the stairs.

I haven't found it to be as much as an issue as I thought it would be.

I never did....Of course when my husband was around, he would carry him for the most part...but if he wanted Mommy to carry him, I never said no. I felt pretty good though.

This is one thing I am so worried about - at 18 months DS is well over 30lbs - I can't imagine how big he'll be if/when I ever get pregnant again! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ummm .......... never. I have a 2.5 year old and now a 10 month old and I'm PG with #3, that's not an option. I really tried to get DS to walk as much as possible when I was PG with DS#2. With this pregnancy I really don't have a choice but to lift my 22 pound 10 month old.

If you can get your little one to get used to not being picked up so much.

I'm 14 weeks pregnant today and already am having DS walk as much as he can. He even likes to climb the stairs on his own.
A day like today though (snow and some ice) I will carry him. (thankfully DH cleaned the walkway and driveway pretty good).

I had complete placenta previa and wasn't allowed to pick up my DS since I was probably about 16 weeks...If we decide to try for #3, I would probably stop much sooner as a precaution...My DS is 2 for most of my pg. and was so good about mommy not picking him up ( I was so Chat Icon about it at first, but knew i had to stop and he was just fine with it)

The only time I was not allowed to hold DS1 was when I was bleeding in the beginning. Otherwise, I always picked him up. I even laughed at my doc when he said not to carry anything Chat Icon

I never stopped picking up Ella. She was 23 months when Erik was born, but she's a lightweight (around 24lbs)

I never stopped. Except I think I wasn't able to carry them when they were having a fit. I remember carrying my 21 month old to bed the night I gave birth to my DD.

DD weights about 30 pounds and I am 32 weeks. I haven't stopped picking her up but I'm not carrying her around as much. I'm trying to get her used to walking by herself and holding my hand as much as possible (recommended in a previous post by BTDT moms here).

I didn't pick her up the first 3 months, and right at the end when it was hard for me with my big belly.

My New Year's Goal is to have Connor do more and more on his own and less carrying. I'm only 11 weeks preg, but my back is killing me and I want him to get used to not being carried. That sounds sad to write, but it's time.
