Line Rage - it exists!
Ok, so we've all heard of road rage... Well, I am here to tell you that I just experienced LINE RAGE.
So I ran to Target this morning because of the impending weekend snow fall of doom, left me to re evaluate the condition of my son's snow gear... which was the SNOW gear of 2006 and since I *know* he had a growth spurt this year, I don't think I can squeeze him into the 06s...
I've been wanting to get a Target CC for quite some time and figured I'll do some Xmas shopping, run the bill up to about 100.00 and get that oh so important 10% off....(I'm thrifty like that)
When I entered the line, the place was empty. I asked the young man at the register if I could apply for a CC on the line and he said 'Sure, it only takes a couple of minutes.'
Of course by now, a woman and some guy had gotten on line behind me.
Now, let me preface this with how I ABSOLUTELY HATE when people huff and puff on line at the supermarket when someone in front of them has coupons, or there is a problem, holding things up. HATE HATE HATE it....
I try my hardest not to make ANYONE feel bad for holding things up. Which is why I could feel my face turning red when I started getting 'the stares' when people realized I was going to be a minute or two.
VERY LOUDLY, a woman behind me goes..."OH GOD... WHAT NOW..' to which the very nice cashier said, she's just applying for a CC.
"GUUUUUUUUUUUUH" (you know, that exhausted sound you make when something *upsets* you)
"Well, how long will this take, I have to get to work?"
(cashier, sensing the rudeness) "It will take as long as it takes..."
(me) "I'm sorry, I won't be more than a few minutes."
More huffing & puffing, followed by a "Why couldn't you do something like this online in your own time" (under her breath of course...)
more huffing & puffing followed by a:
"I don't believe this"
So I channeled my inner Leslie ( ) and turned to her, smiled, and as sweet as pie said:
"I'm sorry... but does it make you feel better to huff and puff like a child? Because if it does, PLEASE BY ALL MEANS keep going... I don't want to cause you any more stress."
I think I also said something like "Breathe in through the nose, out through the mouth... It helps, trust me..."
The cashier got a smile out of it...
and just for good measure, and to cut her off at the knees, I said:
"And leave my f*cking kid out of this..."
(you know, just in case...)
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTALLY KIDDING ON THAT ONE....

I almost said that... but I know sometimes you just have a few minutes.
I was shaking... and it all just CAME OUT so I didn't have time to formulate my sentences. I'm surprised I didn't stutter.

I love to play games with nasty people it makes my day!!!!
On that note I have pedestrian rage now.. one busy corner in my nabe is getting woorse and worse with rude drivers almost knocking you down as they turn onto Steinway.
My new m.o. when I see them turning too fast a la Starsky & Hutch into the intersection is to
walk. reeeeeeeeally. sloooooooowly.
I swear I've given a few a near-aneurysm and I adore it.
The crosswalk is filled with shoppers, elderly, kids and strollers so LET US CROSS you f*in morons. DH gets mad at me and says I shouldnt start sh!t on my own, but I say teach them some manners!!!!!

I've seen line rage also. It's why I kick my husband off the line & tell him to go to electronics before his eyerolling starts.

And you know what pisses me off about the same people? They're the ones who gather on one line, when there's apparently several other empty ones or ones with less of a wait.

People are just awful, as the economy is getting worse the prople are getting nastier. I had a man in a store yesterday try to tell me to pay and bag my groceries and shoved my cart out of the way! I was so angry- I pushed my cart right back and told him I had to wait so will you! I was a little scared after that- but too bad. People are cruel!

Supermarkets are the worst for this. Everyone calm down..you will get done when you get done.
It brings out the worst in people.
Two weeks ago in Shoprite a guy was on his cell phone and every other word was F this F that. Loudly! I finally had to say, could you please get off the effing phone? (I said the curse), there are little kids around, you are in a family place. Just a little irony there.
He didn't flinch, didn't even acknowledge my existence which totally pizzed me off.
Then I accidentally bumped my cart into him. Then he paid attention.
He was really going off on someone on the phone. Take it outside azzwipe.
