ITA!!! This is EXTREMELY unprofessional and disturbing on so many levels. I would report him immediately to the Principal and school board. Even if he was joking it is completely unprofessional to do while a student is on the phone with his/her parents.

i have a meeting with the principal tomorrow morning
and if i didnt get a satisfactory response i'd be heading over to the superintendent's office. this teacher was way out of line and needs to, at the very least, be reprimanded. it would also be the last time he would be any where near my daughter. jerk!

It's not about trusting yoru daughter. It's about hearing someone lie in the background. I don't find it funny. What if she was being taken advantage of by the teacher or the janitor? IMO, he's lucky you didn't overreact with a cop showing up at school.

I also had a teacher like this in HS. Hes the same teacher who ended up getting in a fist fight with a student, and was put on probation. Again the same teacher who then proceeded to wiggle my nose not even a month after having rhinoplasty. The same teacher who cost the school quite a bit of money after a lawsuit transpired! needless to say the scumbag is still working there.
VERY DISTURBING!! He should not be working with HS students!!

That behavior is unacceptable! End of story. As a teacher, there is an unwritten code of conduct that needs to be followed.
As a teacher, I hate when others behave like that! I would file a complaint with the school. I have a ZERO tolerance policy for behavior like that!

i've never met this teacher before (PT conference is next week) -- so i'm not sure if he falls into the "jokester" category or not. if that is the case, and I was familiar with this teacher, then I probably would have laughed it off "ha ha, very funny" sort of thing. but I was SO taken aback by it!!!

good luck tomorrow! you re completely right in being upset! I would try to go in as calm as possible (sometimes when parents go in yelling, principals will automatically defend the teacher as a result). I think having points written down is a great idea! and I think it's a must to change DD's schedule...if he's stupid enough to do something like that, he's probably stupid enough to hold a grudge.
do you know how long he has been teaching? Honestly I hope it's less than 3 years, b/c it's people like this that you need to get out of teaching before tenure - they give teachers a bad name!

You have every right to be fuming mad...that is totally not acceptable behavior from a teacher...and I don't care if he is the "jokester" type or not...he sounds more like a creep to me...I hope you and/or your husband has a talk with this teacher or even a higher up if need be...

Are you sure she was in the classroom with the teacher. Are you sure it wasn't a boy, pretending to be the teacher. It sounds so juvenile and unprofessional, that is why I'm asking.
I can't fathom an adult talking like that EVER. Disgusting. I hope everything works out for your daughter.
