sorry..11 year old girl staying after school with a male teacher who is making shady comments...
I would be pizzed too.
hi dude...I trust my DAUGHTER...i don't trust YOU! too many pervs in the world for you to be making jokes if I haven't even MET you.
Perfectly stated. It's not the daughter - it's every other person that could possibly sexually molest her. A parent is supposed to feel their child is "safe" at school & with a teacher. He isn't supposed to undermine that - no matter what the circumstances.
Christina - if you're this upset, draft something before you show up at the principal's office. Going in with your emotions blazing as they are isn't going to help the situation. We don't want that ring dented anymore.

Re: OMG, I am FUMING
As a former HS teacher and counselor, I will say you are NOT overreacting and that this is completely unprofessional behavior. He is being disrespectful to both you and your daughter.
Unfortunately, I will also say that it doesn't surprise me. I feel safe in saying there's at least one teacher like this in every school. You are right in demanding to meet with the principal, because talking to just the teacher would probably do nothing.

Woa....that is totally inappropriate and I would be fuming too
It's one thing to try to be the "cool" teacher but that is just overstepping boundaries. I would definitely speak to the teacher and file a complaint

The other thing is...did this idiot not think of his own safety? I mean think about it...if your DH wasn't a calm person & called you, this could have gone seriously south.
I know if it was Maddie, my husband would have been up at the school in minutes.

Re: OMG, I am FUMING
Completely inappropriate on all levels. From what it sounds like, he's suggesting that she's messing around with the janitor. He is supposed to be an educator; someone you can entrust with your childs care, mind shaping and well being. You don't need him implying something risque or questionable to an impressionable young lady. I'd have his balls on the desk tomorrow morning!!!
Give him hell girl!!

What an idiot that guy is. In this day and age and the things that are happening between teacher's and student's why would he be so frigging stupid?!!

I'm not sure I'm following.
The teacher was trying to make you believe your daughter was lying?
pretty much
i've never met this teacher before (PT conference is next week) -- so i'm not sure if he falls into the "jokester" category or not. if that is the case, and I was familiar with this teacher, then I probably would have laughed it off "ha ha, very funny" sort of thing. but I was SO taken aback by it!!!
I was just going to say the same thing. If I was familiar with the teacher and his sense of humor, I would of laughed it off. You have every right to be upset,****** and angry! Are you going to do anything about it? ETA: just read you have a meeting with the priniciple

I think I'd be firing off an email to the teacher & cc'ing the principal. That is absolute BS.
It's not about trusting yoru daughter. It's about hearing someone lie in the background. I don't find it funny. What if she was being taken advantage of by the teacher or the janitor? IMO, he's lucky you didn't overreact with a cop showing up at school.
i agree with Barb... it just sounds shady like something completely inapprorpriate was going on!!! in the probable event there was nothing going on, the teacher was completely unprofessional. as a teacher myself it infuriates me at the number of IDIOTS there are out there that actually get teaching jobs. i would be calling the school....

Re: OMG, I am FUMING
Totally inappropriate. To be so flippant in making a suggestive statement about a child is against everything the role of a teacher consumes. It was outright disrespectful to both you and your daughter. I wonder who else stayed for extra help that he made that comments in front of? Will those kids now take that statement and run will it.....spreading rumors of a torrid affair with the janitor? What happens when a kid goes home and tells their parent and the janitors are brought up on an investigation? I know I'm being dramatic, but it could happen. This is HS after all. His obnoxious idea of humor could ruin the reputations of your daughter and the janitor.
I would not let this go and am glad you have a meeting with the principal. I would demand an apology to both you and your daughter and request a change in teacher assignment as long as it doesn't disrupt your daughters schedule too bad.
Sorry he was such an idiot

Re: OMG, I am FUMING
What kind of example is this teacher setting where he is coaching a 10th grade child to lie to her parents? That is horrendous and I can't wait to hear what the principal says tomorrow.

Re: OMG, I am FUMING
Did you ask your daughter about what was said and what happened?
Is it possible it was a male guy friend pretending to be the teacher in the background?
The entire story sounds really bizarre. If it was a teacher I would rip into that entire school tomorrow.

Re: OMG, I am FUMING
are you sure it was really the teacher and not another student playing games? It sounds very strange that a teacher would act like that, its one thing to be a jokester in class another with a parent who they have not met yet and to joke about something as serious as that. are you being punked?
