I went for an U/S yesterday and I have a ?
So everything looked good, but then the doctor said oh the baby has company.. and i was like what... and he goes it looks like a yolk sac. Of course, I didn't even ask him any questions, but do you guys know what this means??????

Sounds like the doctor thinks you might be carrying twins! How far along are you? it's possible that one twin is developing slightly slower than the other.

Your doctor is being really cryptic! I would call him to get some straight answers if I were you. It's possible that there is a sac there, but it's not developing as it should.

I really love my doctor, but he does joke around! I am going back in 4 weeks, so maybe I should just wait! Cause I don't think its possible to have twins, if one of them isn't even developed yet!

Yea, maybe you guys are right! I feel so stupid that I really didn't say anything when i was there! Can you even imagine? No one has twins in our families!!!!

I know it is just a tv show but I think I remember a Grey's Anatomy episode where a woman was carrying twins from two different fathers. I believe she conceived babies on different dates.

every time i go, i have a list of ?s in my head and every time i get home i realize i didnt ask ANY of them LOL
you just get caught up while youre there

Yep. Even if you did have a multiple ovulation, it would only happen within 24 hours of the first. Two babies conceived by different fathers from mulitple ovulation would still be very close in fetal age - it would depend on implantation, but still, it couldn't be that different.

My doctor saw the baby and a yolk sak at our 8 week appointment too.. she said the yolk sak is what feeds the baby before the umbilical chord takes over.. could it be the same thing? In our sono it looked like a round ball in the corner of my uterus... hope this helps!

Oh my god, yes that is what it looks like! I am hoping its the same thing. I guess he was just making a joke just saying oh the baby has company!!!

i watched a special on TLC about that once - true story apparently, though i'm sure grey's anatomy put their own unbelievable twist on it.
