How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I don't mind or judge. in fact, I usually admire. I went to a baby shower yesterday at my friend's house. it was a small gathering, about 15 people.
I wore trousers, peep toe heels, a knit top and accessories.
my friend's SIL (who is gorgeous enough to be a model) was wearing a cocktail dress, a huge pearl choker necklace and patent leather SUPER high heels. the dress was stunning! but she looked like she was going to a black tie wedding, not a baby shower.
I told her she looked amazing - which she did. but she made me feel like crap

I find it refreshing since most people under-dress. good point. at this baby shower, 2 women were in jeans, "fancy" t-shirts and flip flops

Re: How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I agree: I enjoy people who overdress, it seems classy somehow.
I do NOT like when people wear sweats with full-on hair and make-up. It's like it doesn't match.
sweats=low-maintenance make-up & hair-did = high maintenance

as long as they don't steal the spotlight from whoever's event it is, then I don't mind. Especially if they tell me where they bought their outfit

Re: How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I know what you mean, but I would rather see people over-dress than under-dress! At a baby shower, it wouldn't bother me. It's when I see people dressed like that to take their kids to the park makes me
Sounds like what you wore was perfect!

Re: How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I like it, I actually usually get jealous!
I am trying to dress more "sophisticated" but it is hard and I feel like i can't pull it off for some reason.
Speaking of, I went to a wedding on Friday night and wore a long black lace gown and I was the only female that was in a long gown besides immediate family and the bridal party - I felt like I didnt get the memo!

Re: How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I think that it shows respect for the event. I used to get totally peeved when I would see my cousins for Easter or Christmas and they would be in jeans and a sweatshirt which is what they wore everyday while I had on a dress with stockings, etc. I mean, it's a holiday...holiday finest???? The same goes for showers and stuff. Granted, you can totally dress up jeans and still look fantastic, but there is something to be said for really dressing up. Plus, it makes you feel better about yourself when you do so.

Hmmm, I disagree with this. - I mean, I'd never wear white to a wedding or something like that - but b/c I know the guest of honor is usually frumpy or something, that means I have to dress down ?? - I don't think so !!

I was thinking more along the lines of the girl who wore the dressy cocktail dress with heels to the shower. I tend to overdress, but I would never overdress to that extent.

Re: How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I'm definately guilty of it, maybe not to that extent. My in laws NEVER get dressed up and every holiday I am the only one in heels and a nice outfit.
I like celebrations and getting dressed up- it makes events and life just more special. Maybe that outift made her feel great.
As others said, I prefer that to underdressed!

I'd much rather be over dressed then under dresses.
I love the "dressy" t-shirt line. Reminds me very much of my IL's.

Re: How do you feel about people who over-dress?
I dont mind as long as it is a classy and not skanky type of overdress. I prefer that much better then someone who under-dresses.
