Grrrrrr Hanauer cancelled on me AGAIN!!!!!
Husband drove an hour to come meet the doctor today. He got there a bit early. They were calling patients to cancel appointments for the afternoon.
Apparently she had to go deliver a baby. Obviously this happens because she is an obgyn but this happens way too frequently.
I am soooooooooooooo mad. This is the third time in 2 months. First she had an emergency c section, then she cancelled on me to go on vacation. Now this.
I have to wait way too long for phone calls and appointments. I'm going to start interviewing other obgyns.
Any recommendations?

what area / hospital?
3 village womens' health in setauket is great (SBU hospital) I seldom wait longer than 10 min, and I've NEVER had a cancellation... they're also a very smart bunch of OB's over there....

that is unacceptable.
Once or twice is understandable over the course of your pregnancy, but that is insane.
I don't have any reccos on LI, just Manhattan.

I don't go to Hanauer but once my DH asked my OB what happens if she has to deliver a baby and she said that our appt would have to be rescheduled. She went on to say that without fail it's coincidentally the same people that seem to get cancelled on. That she's had women have 3 or 4 babies with her and never been cancelled on but others that are on their first and had multiple cancellations. Stinks, but sometimes it can't be avoided.
That being said it seems like you have been frustrated there from the get-go and I would switch too. I'm in CT also so unfortunately don't have any recs.

I was once kept waiting for my doctor for an hour past my appointment years back. I was there for a regular exam. I was late for a date and had to leave. Needless to say the OB was meeting with a couple who had a high-risk pregnancy. The doc himself called to explain himself and apologized. It was good enough for me. I would have wanted the same courtesy and thats what I told him.

Dont feel bad! Yesterday was the first time I saw her since July and that is b/c i took off of work. She cancelled on me in Aug and Sept (my 20 week appt). I just found out her and Dr. D have 70 deliveries in the month of January and Feb.

I changed Dr's partially b/c I felt the practice had gotten too large for them to handle and needed more one on one care.

It never happened to me but I would understand if it did. Hell, I would want her to cancel her appointments if I was in labor 
I also never really had a crazy long wait - but I am very flexible with my schedule so I would ask them when the best times would be.
I LOVE both Dolisi (he delivered my son) and Hanauer! I wouldn't trust anyone else to deliver my child.

I am Dr. Hanauer's patient also but haven't had this happen to me. Is there anyway you could see Dr. Dolisi, the PA or one of the NP's? I know that their office is way too busy and I don't like the waiting but I guess it's a good sign that so many women want to go to them.

Can you FM he is info, I need a new doc and if my test was positive this morning (it had one dark and one light line) I need one sooner than I thought.
