Who do you want in delivery with you and why?
I def want DH there...but should I have my mommy as well...tell me about your experiences and/or preferences. Thanks!

I haven't thought much about this yet. My family lives 2.5 hours away, but I assume they'd get here in time. I obviously want DH there, but I'm not sure whether I'll want my mom in there too.

Just my DH. My mom wants to be there but I said no. I know myself well enough to know that I will be tired, probably somewhat cranky because of the pain, and for me.......it's bad enough the world will be looking at all your "stuff", I don't want my mom seeing it too. Also, it's our first child and I just think it's a special moment that I want to share with just my DH and I don't want any extra people getting in the way. Once the baby comes everyone is going to be over all the time so I want the delivery to just be us.

It will just be me and my DH, we both want to be the only ones in there. Everyone else can wait outside.
I'll already have everyone else and their mother getting a show, no need for anyone else.

I only want DH there. I don't mind if my mom is there when I am in labor, but when it comes to the delivery I just want it to be me and DH... and the doctors and nurses, lol.

me and DH. Mom comes from a different era (knocked out for my birth, so even SHE wasn't really 'there'  ) and doesn't want to come....

At first I just wanted dh. but lately he has been saying how afraid he is. So then I thought well then i'll have my mom and dh with me.
Now I'm thinking I"ll prob have to take care of dh and worry about mom crying or something,
so i think i might be most comfortable with my Dad. I know it sounds gross, but he would be such a great coach and i feel completely comfortable with him!

was your moms mom with her? if no then how can she be insulted. do you have a mil? would she be upset if your mom went in and not her?

For our first child it was just DH and me. This time I asked my mother if she wanted to be there this time since she was able to be in town before/after the birth of this baby. (she visits for six weeks in the summer!) So since she said yes it will be me, DH and my mom!

I put just the man and I. Im not one for an audiance on certain things, all those folks were not there when the jalapeno was made, they can wait in the OTHER room when he/she comes out.

I don't think this is gross at all! Personally I think it's a beautiful thing to have parents there, they gave birth to me! Without them, there wouldn't be me and DC wouldn't be here.

Actually her mom was there with my dad...but only because I was born in the backseat of a car!!! We didn't make it to hospital in time...Grandma was in the front seat, dad, who delivered me, in the back with my mom...and I have no idea who the driver was!!

aww what a cool birth storie!! I would just talk to your mom and explain to her you and your dh would like to do this alone. Its not that your trying to leave her out of something but its just something you and your dh would like to do together Special moment for the two of yous.

Thanks for the advice...thats the way I feel now...who knows what will happen that day and if I will be screaming for my mommy Hope not!

My DH. I was considering my mom too, but she's an overly nervous person and I would spend my time calming her down so she'd probably drive me nuts.

To be brutally honest...
Only my hubby
#1 Frankly he had just as much to do with this as I did so he SHOULD be there (dang it)
#2 My father missed my birth and my brother’s and I want my hubby to be there and not missed it like my Dad did (he kind of regrets it but hey, he was Navy)
#3 Unless you’re paid to be there, No one else NEEDS to be there. That means no interns, residents, learning nurses, etc
#4 Hurt feelings? Please, I just pushed a wha-wha from my woo-hoo, they can get over it
#5 I will be angry, scared, bloody, tired, exhausted, in pain, pooping on a table, miserable, crying and horrified with my knees to my chin, screaming. Thanks but I don’t want anyone there for that.
