Spinoff- registering for clothes

I have heard a lot of people say don't register for clothes, because you will get plenty. But, do you think if you register for clothes, people will at least know what style of clothes you like? I'm worried that if I don't register for any, people who want to buy clothes will buy stuff in their taste that I won't like at all. I figure if I register for some, maybe they will get a sense of my style. any thoughts?

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

I'm def. not registering for clothes. My MIL and my Mom are Marshalls hounds and have already started buying stuff.

People like picking out baby clothes as gifts themselves. A LOT of people will get a gift off your registry (lets say a bobby or something) and then a outfit. They like to pick that out themselves. Plus, most clothes under 12 Mos are fairly similar anyway. If its a girl, you'll get pink, boy then blue.

Plus, people will also get you clothes once the baby is born as well.

No need to register for them.

I did not register for any clothes and I am pretty sure I wont have to buy any clothes for a year. Most of the clothes are cute, there is really only 1 outfit I dislikeChat Icon

I'm not registering for clothes either, people have so much fun picking out baby clothes I wouldn't want to take that away. If there is anything I truely hate I'm sure it can be returned.

People are going to buy what they think is cute for a baby. They're not going to think about your style. You just will have outfits you leave the house in and ones you don't. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
DD is almost 3 and we still have "special" house clothes.

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

I didnt register for clothes but I did put a stipulation on it so they knew what not to get me. I said no pink for my dd I absolutely hate pink and would not have wanted full closet of it and it worked I think I got maybe 5 outfits total thus far that were pink

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

I only registered for onesies in all different sizes so I didn't get too many in just size 0-3 months. As for regular outfits, people are going to buy you so much!

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

I registered for some clothes but when you actually go to get them, it is VERY hard to locate them from a registry SKU. I just think I got carried away - so much so that I couldnt even tell you what I chose. The images of clothing do NOT come up on registry lists either. Many people do not want to be bothered looking. HOWEVER, I do think it is a good idea to register for some infant onesies either by Carters or Gerber that come in a package. Those are easy to find - socks too.

I registered for onesies in multiple sizes and some PJs/sleep sacks. If figure everyone will go crazy buying clothes since I am having a girl. And... I figure if I don't like what they've bought I will just return it! Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

Did not register for clothes. I have a ton of hand me downs (thank you chelle Chat Icon ) so I am pretty much set for 0-3 months. And I will be happy with whatever clothes I get from people, they will pick what they like regardless of what I put on the registry!!

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

also keep in mind that clothes go in and out of season. they recommend you not register for clothes because by the time your shower comes, those clothes will probably be out of stock and the new stuff is coming in.

i didn't register for any clothes and got ALL my necessary items at my shower. since DS was born, people have been buying clothes like crazy! it's great. regarding style--people will buy what they want to. they won't care what you like.

i've only returned things that are wrong season (like a summery onesie in size 6-9 months when DS is only 13 days old!).

the only things i would put on the registry is side snap tees--short and long sleeve. i never would have thought about those if it wasn't for mrs. patticakes--and that's ALL DS sleeps in. he has his tee and a diaper since it's so hot. they are wonderful.

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

Bottom line is people will buy you what they feel like buying you. I didn't register for clothes for Chat Icon with the exception of some gender neutral onesies and sleep sacks. I have an aunt that bought me 8 distinctly boy outfits and I don't even know what I'm havingChat Icon! Just see if you can spread the word that gift receipts would be very helpful and plan on returning whatever is not to your liking.

ITA! You can return/exchange what you don't like or what does not fit. It is unreal how much clothing DD was given after her birth! I wouldn't register for any clothing.

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

I did not register for clothes and I don't really recommend it aside from onesies and sleep sacks.. I received SOOO MANY outfits for DD. Some of it I loved, some of it wasn't my taste but to be honest, if it fit and was weather appropriate she's worn it.

When you're changing their outfit 3 or 4 times a day because of spit up, pee and poop it won't matter as much what they're wearing, just that they actually have clothes ON.

Also, I save the outfits I really like for the weekends when I'm not working. Yesterday morning I changed DD because I thought her outfit was too cute for the babysitter. Chat Icon She'll wear it on Saturday instead.

Re: Spinoff- registering for clothes

I registered for almost no clothes... and all of them were already given to me as an early shower gift from a friend.

the clothes I DID register for were very specific. they were the sleep gowns with the sleeves that fold over the hands so scone can't scratch himself. I also registered for a few large bibs with good reviews. that's it.

I figure the rest will come on it's own Chat Icon (Oh, and I also bought a good deal at a carter's outlet clearance event Chat Icon )
