CO for skylight
Do you need to have a C of O or permit for a skylight?

Re: CO for skylight
well, thinking that a CofO is a certificate of Occupancy, and you are not living IN the skylight, i think you are safe.
that's a funny thought.
Then again, towns look for any possible way to make money off of you.
sorry, i didn't help any!

Re: CO for skylight
I just called the Town of Oyster bay and they said you do need a permit for a skylight. You do get a Cof O for it. You just need 1 to cover all of them

I had a feeling this was going to be the answer since in most towns you need a permit to make a window bigger or to put a new one in. SO ridiculous.

You know I would call back and ask them to show you where in the town code does it say you need a CO for a skylight.
I think a lot of times when you call these people they will say you need a CO for anything, especially if they aren't sure they would rather say yes than no.
Get them to prove it.

Re: CO for skylight
My husband works for an architect, and he just said no, you do not need one.
(He goes to the town often to get Co's for houses, and specs them in)
