Fabric softener made with animal fat.

I had NO idea! I was surprised that i just heard about this for the first time this week.

I know i eat animal fat, so maybe this shouldn't disturb me as much as it did, but i was hoping to find out more information about it.

Yes, i know about google Chat Icon BUT, i was interested in hearing from those that know more about it (what the process is in treatment of the animals, where it comes from, if more people should know about this, etc...).

Also, if anyone's interested, there are a few (mainly the new green products) that don't use animal fat (some use soy as a replacement, etc)- Method brands and seventh generation are 2 examples....

I drop my laundry off and they don't speak english. I think there may be a problem in asking them to use my own sheets ... they'll probably spit on my clothes Chat Icon

I know. I had absolutely no idea until I started to become active in animal rights. It's sad.

Re: Fabric softener made with animal fat.

this reminds me of that movie "Fight Club" when brad pitt is explaining that the best thing to make soap was human fat--so i guess maybe that was true--and they use animal fat instead nowadays.

Re: Fabric softener made with animal fat.

I had heard in the past not to use dryer sheets or fabric softner on your towle because it makes them less absorbant. This totally makes sense now. The fibers get coated with the fat and makes it repel the water.

I really can't get too enraged over this since I eat all kinds of meat.
I'd feel like a hypocrite not using fabric softener anymore as I sink my teeth into a burger... Chat Icon

Re: Fabric softener made with animal fat.

May be a really stupid question but wondering.. Are the fabric sheets made the same way???
