My boss heard I was oing
So my boss calls me into the office this afternoon.....my female boss...and said I was listening to some phone calls to find a certain incident and came across this......
I work 9a-9p and ALWAYS call my mom on my way to work well last week I went in early and around 1130 I called to explain why I didn't call. She then says...my mind got to wondering and I figured you were ovulating and just stayed home w/Joe to try and get pg. I quickly said MOM this is a taped line I have to go....
Well here it is a week later and my boss is playing the conversation back to me. She says....I'm not trying to be inappropriate I just thought it was so funny, and since Joe is having back surgery next month if you need a "personal" day to try and have a baby we would understand.
I was so shocked and embarrassed I just said "um thanks...i'll keep that in mind"

that was totally inappropriate - not to mention an HR nightmare. Your boss is very lucky you are obviously not the type of person who is easily offended or running to HR b/c what she did was very wrong -
My calls are recorded as well, and we all KNOW people have access to our personal calls, but really? There is a degree of professionalism that is expected. - I am not at all the type to be easily offended, but something like that would have REALLY bothered me -

ITA!!! That's truly inappropriate of your boss. I would have been ROYALLY PI$$ED!

Being someone who works with HR, it is really unprofessional and inappropriate (not to mention insensitive and embarrassing) to playback recorded phone calls. That feature is only necessary if and when an employee is under suspicsion of doing something harmful or illegal in the company and/or federal investigations.
That wasn't cool of her. Lucky for her you didn't explode b/c it would have been in your right to.

I understand the concern and perhaps I should add more......My boss is well aware of our attempts at TTC since we have talked about it before. She had IVF to have her twins so it's not inappropriate for us to discuss isome of the challenges. She played it because while an employee was under suspicion they came across this call. When I say they I mean her, my big boss, my vice-president and our CEO....She was trying to explain what they all heard and why it would be ok to have a personal day. It wasn't ment to be rude or inappropriate...It was quite funny and made me more relaxed that she talked to me so that when I saw my bosses later the fact that they turned red and then pale was explained.....

I don't know how I would personally take it but I guess you know her better and if you're not offended then it's fine!
I would have turned sooooo RED!!!
I think it is also really funny that your mom is the one saying that she thought you stayed home to conceive!!!

As long as you're ok with it and feel better. Just wanted you to know that if you WERE offended, you had every right to express it..legally.
But being that it seemed your boss was trying to give you a heads up..having gone through this herself..i guess it's not that big of a deal.
