ok heres a question...say you go and buy bunch of stuff...they forget to ring up something...you realize it say.......in the parking lot..."Do you go back in?" or let it go? I am asking because I got one of those life size 3 wheel bike planters...the price was $160.00...she rang up $90.00... I couldn't do it...i was like no its wrong...and had her correct it... sayI didn't do you believe in karma with stuff like that?

I do believe in Karma and I would have done exactly what you did. I always have that "guilty" conscience.

Depends on the situation..in your instance I probably would have assumed it was marked down and I missed the sign...

I truly believe that what you give is what you get. You did the right thing. I would have done the same.
I also would have gone back if I discovered it in the parking lot.

I would've done the same.
Now, if they forget to ring something up, I always say something.

I'd have gone back too, because then it'd bother me all night.
The other day the girl at the supermarket gave me an extra dollar back in my change and I gave that right back.
ETA: sorry should ave read extra 5 dollar bill

Me too. These days everything is bar coded. I wouldn't have thought it was the cashiers mistake. I honestly, would have thought it was on sale.
If she gave me back extra $$ than I would have said something.

same here. did it have a bar code? if so, i would just assume that it was on sale and i didn't notice. on the other hand, my parents own a garden center and everything gets entered into the cash register by hand... and they appreciate when something was put in for less and the customer says something...

Re: do you believe in karma in this sense per say...
it was a nursery---it was not bar coded... there was also aemployee there who knewit was more but she didnt say a thing... I didn't do it because I go there all the time...eventually they would have realized it off the receipts---listen..I amsoooooo not perfect...there have been times if its a coke I shut up---but not a $90.00 error...I felt bad....
though updated... i went and mydh bought me a mothers day gift there and the screwed up bigggggggggg time..and the owner honored the error...a big error..so maybe there is karma

Ditto
Sometimes I don't notice a 50% off sign and I get excited when an item rings up for less.

Re: do you believe in karma in this sense per say...
I once walked out of S&S with a card (Hallmark) w/o paying for it it was tucked under my purse and I totally forgot I had it (I picked it out first before I started shopping)
I felt too stupid to go back and pay for it, so I didn't.

Re: do you believe in karma in this sense per say...
I don't believe in karma, but I do believe in not getting a cashier in trouble for making a mistake.
It would depend on where I was when I discovered the error. At the register, I would say something (actually I just did the other day). If I was in the parking lot, it would depend on the effort. Do I have my kids? Do I have to lug the thing back in or can I take the receipt?
For the most part I'm honest, but laziness trumps honesty.

I have to agree. I would have been really happy that I scored it on sale!

in this case i would say you did the right thing. like i said, my parents own a garden center in NJ, and it really is such a unique thing. its such a seasonal thing where they only need extra help for a few weeks or months of the year, so its hard to consistently get the same people back year after year who really know what they're doing. ( they usually find other jobs in the off season and stick with those). its also hard to train them extensively at the beginning of the season. AND with so many different plants and pot sizes, all at different prices, its hard to remember the price of each item to enter it into the register. and liek you said, it was a pretty big mistake- not just a couple dollars. i'm sure it means a lot to the nursery owner (who had to pay to heat the greenhouses all winter and pay for all the seeds and soil and pots) that you said something...
