I kind of belive, if that makes sense. People who, I think , deserve certain things never seem to get whats "coming to them", good or bad. But when it comes to me, if I wrong someone, intentionally or not, it always seems to bite me in the azz sooner or later.

No. I think it's a way of people comforting themselves when they feel hurt or spiteful.

I think bad things happen to good (or great) people just as often as they do to bad.

I do think that for those that step all over people shouldn't be shocked that no one helps them up after they've been knocked down but that's not a cosmic force. That's human nature.

Re: Do you Believe in Karma?

OK - Ready? Cuz the Buddhist hat is coming on....

The true idea of karma is that every action will have a reaction.

However, you may not receive the reaction in this lifetime - good, or bad.

Everything that happens to you in this lifetime is the result of this and previous lifetimes. If you suck, but good things happen in this lifetime, its because you did good things in your last lifetime that you are enjoying the effects of now. BUT - in the next lifetime, you are screwed, even if you are a good person. Same thing with being a good person and bad things happening - its the result of things you did in previous lifetimes. If you "ripen your karma" in this life - meaning, you experience the effects of all the bad stuff early on, then you start fresh, and then good things can happen to you again if you are a good person.

This explains why kids may have horrible childhoods. They are ripening their karma. If they grow up to be good people, then they will be rewarded in this or future lifetimes. If they are miserable and bitter and turn into awful grownups, then they keep creating more negative karma for themselves.

Make sense?

Re: Do you Believe in Karma?

I believe that ULTIMATELY you reap what you sow.

I don't expect that every good deed I do will immediately be rewarded, just as I pray that every bad thought and thing that i do will be punished. But I think it all evens out somehow.

I also don't buy into the whole idea of a dramatic 'karmic justice'. I think that stuff like this plays out in a much more subtle manner.

Take the evil businessman who treats people like cr*p- but seems to have everything anyway - the gorgeous wife, the beautiful home, the nice cars. You might look at him and say "How did a douchebag like that end up with so many great things?" But what you don't see is that behind that smirk and the fat wallet is a man who treats people like cr*p because he feels that HE is worthless. A man who lives daily with a sense of paranoia and a depression that gnaws on him.

And that person who is constantly battling the bills, drives a crappy car and has yet another headache from a 10 hour day at the office? She goes home to a family that loves her.

That's how I see it.

When I think about it rationally I tend to agree with you. However, when someone hurts me, I want to believe in it!

I totally agree. I want to think there is a such thing as karma but then you always some people do bad things or not appreciate the things that they have and all is fine and dandy, but then you have some really good people that always get crapped on.

Re: Do you Believe in Karma?

oh hell yes. i've seen it happen...

the down side to karma is that you don't alway get to see that person get theirs but you just have to believe it does.

Re: Do you Believe in Karma?

I believe in Karma. It may not always come back to people right away, but I believe it does come back. It may even come back to them in a future life and they will not understand why they are being targeted, but I believe it comes back.
