Re: Possibly the saddest story I've ever read...
This is the saddest story. Looking at the pictures of her after the baby was born and then to think that she was gone hours afterwards makes me want to cry. Looking at my DS and imagining not being there for him is unbearable.

I can't believe I am going to say this... What a lucky little girl. It is so unfair that she should never know her mother but she is so lucky to have a wonderful father who obviously loves her and her mom (may she rest in peace). How very, very very sad this story is for all involved

Madeline is so blessed to have such a great daddy taking care of her. May her mom watch over them.

Re: Possibly the saddest story I've ever read...
Unfortunately, something similar happened to a mother of one of Alex's classmates. I posted about it about a year ago. She was 7 months pregnant and got sick so she went to the hospital. She had an infection that traveled to her brain, it swelled, and she ended up dying. Thankfully, they were able to save the baby, but Daddy was left to take care of Hannah, Alex's classmate, and her baby sister, by himself, without his wife.
For the longest time, he wouldn't talk to anyone. He wouldn't even drop Hannah off at school or pick her up, her grandmother would do it. When he started to show his face again at school, you could just see the grief and pain on his face.
Slowly, very slowly he has opened up. In fact, I'm the only parent in their class he'll actually approach and talk to. I try to stay as normal as possible, the honest truth is anytime I see him, or his daughters, my eyes just well up when I think of the grief they've all gone through

Re: Possibly the saddest story I've ever read...
This is so sad and hits really close to home as both my sister and I have a clotting disorder. I am on Lovenox throughout my pregnancy and after. I have to wonder why she didn't get a simple thrombophilia panel before being put on bed rest to find out if she was prone to clots-such a senseless death.
I will be thinking of Madeline and her Daddy
