Anyone over 40 and TTC???
I'm new here, glad I came across this site! What brought me here was combing the internet due to being in CD35, and 4 BFNs. My story, long but short, is I am 41, married 1 1/2 years and myhusband is 34. I bought the CBEFM to try to get preg fast, and the first 2 months I just got a high reading and no peak/egg. The third month I got my egg and my BFP! Unfortunately, we lost that pregnancy. That was 1 year ago, and I have not been able to conceive since. WHen I was in my early 20s I did get preg 2 times. I miscarried both. Then I was never preg again until my last mc. I also have never been lat for my AF. I am now on CD35 and nothihg. I had a few cramps and now I just feel bloated and achy, but again, 4 tests and 4 BFNs. I have a doc appt on Monday, but for now, here I am!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
Welcome to the TTC board!!! I'm sorry to hear about your MCs but hopefully this time around will be your time!
If you don't mind me asking, what caused your other MCs?
At this point, it sort of sounds to me, from what you've posted, that you're not Oing every cycle, hence the high reading but no peak.
Obviously, the doctor will be able to run tests to get a more conclusive answer but til then good luck and again welcome! I hope your time her is short lived!
Oh and though I'm not 40+ there are a few women here who I believe either are or are close to.

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
Hi, Jennie! I have no idea what caused my MCs. WhenI waas 19 I was pregnant, and my then boyfriend and I were petrified and I started bleeding heavily. So my cousin advised me to see a doc right away and he confirmed I was losing the baby. The second one, I didnt know I was even preg. I was young and irresponsible unfortunately. I thought I wa shaving a painful heavy period and, well you know the rest. The most recent MC, well I started spotting and they told me I had a hole in the sac. Theykept checking my levels and giving me ultras and they said it was looking like it was getting better. I even saw the heartbeat. The spotting was brown whivh is as we know old blood and they said things were looking good. Then I started bleeding again and this time, no heartbeat. They scheduled me for a d&c, but the night before nature took its own course and I had to go to the er where I miscarried. I had the d&c in the morning. That was 3/9/07. As for my CBEFM, I do get an egg every month, we just have not gotten pg.

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
Ok, thank you for sharing that...
Did your doctor check you for Rh compatability? That too could have caused you to miscarry. Again, I'm so sorry you not only had to endure that once, but twice.
As for the CBEFM, I didn't realize you were in deed getting the egg. Hmmmm.... I'm stumped.
Are you intending to meet with an RE or is this your regular doc? You may want to consider an RE. Also has your husband had a sperm analysis done? There are so many contributing factors... Ugh! Who knew?!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
I am 39, I will be 40 in 4 weeks, so I am right there with you.
Are you seeing an RE or a regular OB? Last year I went straight to the RE, after an ectopic pregnancy.
Good luck!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
I'm 39 and just starting TTC now !
I haven't gotten any kits yet (not sure which to start off with). I have always had a reg AF and of course NOW that we are so excited about TTC she has a total mind of her own!
I asked DH yesterday if we could go back to "not TTC" and act like we never had the conversation.
So I'm totally with all you lovely ladies! We will have a HUGE celebration when we all get our BFP one day!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
41..starting to TTC for real. I took the advice of the ladies on here and made an appt with a RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) so as not to waste time trying for 6 months. This way, we can nip any issues right away.
Good luck!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
Hi All! I am seeing the ob/gyn Monday night for a checkup, since I am not feeling well. No AF since 2/29, and I have this odd fluttering in my lower abdomen/pelvic area for like a month. Plus legs and lower back ache. But I am making an appt. with RE ASAP! I waited too long as it is....Nice to meet you all!!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
I started with the CBEFM rigth away and got preg fast. I love that gadget! First 2 minths I had no little egg, but it was just getting used to me. When I got my first egg, I was so excited and learned alot about my cycle. Pricy, but worth it when we feel pressed for time!

Re: Anyone over 40 and TTC???
I am going to be very blunt here so please don't take this the wrong way. Given your age and history of mc's I would go directly to a RE if you are serious about getting pregnant. The job of a RE is to get you pg as quickly as possible and find out possible obstacles preventing you from getting and staying pg. Good luck!
