I was thinking of getting "Suffolk" or "Centerport" on my wrist but it's just not as cool as BrooklynChat Icon

Anyway, getting one on my wrist is not something I would do but like it if it's well done on others. I say go for whatever makes you happy and make sure you post a pic!

Honestly--I think if it's something YOU want to do, you should do it.

I recently got an Irish-inspired tattoo on my upper back--mostly to signify that, despite my Hispanic last name, I am and always will be 100% Irish ancestry.

If Brooklyn means the same to you, then I say go for it! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon i don't understand you at all. alot of people won't understand cause they aren't HEAVILY tattooed, yes, ALOT of people have tattoos, but they aren't covered in them.

Ok, here's where I'm losing you...

You can't possibly go and have two full sleeves tattooed on yourself, and then complain that people are judging you! It's one thing to...say...be born with no legs, and to get upset that everyone's judging you. Yes, they probably are--but that's something you can't help. Tattoos are something that you chose to do to yourself to enhance your appearance. And unfortunately, tattoos come with a stigma attached to them, in the eyes of many people.

P.S. I have one tattoo and one in the works. I know I'm not "fully tattoed and I won't understand", but becoming so heavily tattooed was YOUR idea, wasn't it? Chat Icon

I was born and raised in Brooklyn too, and honestly have to say that most Brooklyn type shout outs of any kind (tatoo, shirts, people screaming it, whatever variation of the term BROOKLYN!) usually makes me cringe and think, "Tool!".

Sorry. Chat Icon

yes, however i did it for me, not for anyone else. when people stare at you all day long, it sucks. that's all im saying. then people think they have the right to touch you. that's crossing the line. i'm so not looking forward to the warm weather in florida for the week because i'll have people touching me and staring at me. uggh Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i'm sorry i did it for me and not for everyone else Chat Icon Chat Icon everyone else's opinion shouldn't matter to me. i think that's what most people's problem is. they care too much. i don't care, i just think it's annoying to be stared at all day.

Re: Be honest...will I be a "tool" for getting a tattoo...

skipping over the drama.... (who'd think form the op it would turn into 9 pages!?)

so.... i love the idea. i LOVE Brooklyn. Its such an amazing place. you should be proud.... and obviously you are if you are considering it as a tatty.

please keep in mind, its a COMMON tattoo. so if you want something original keep that in mind.

i think it written in script on the wrist can look realy great, but considering your line of work, a wrist tat may not really be the best idea.

i, personally, dont like it as a tramp stamp, but its not for me to say you shouldnt get it there. its your body.

now, if you got "brooklyns finest" well, that is more tool worthy

on a sidenote:

i'm very heavily tattooed and am aware that people judge. it comes with the ink.Chat Icon

You need to look at it this way. Your body is a canvas and you're displaying your art for everybody to see. As with any piece of art, some people are going to like it and some people aren't, but everybody's going to stare at it a little bit to decide whether they do or don't.
Surely you must have known that people would look at your tats when you got them, otherwise you would have gotten them in places where they could have easily been hidden.

Re: Be honest...will I be a "tool" for getting a tattoo...

although i agree with some of the points made concerning people staring/judging..... it is ALWAYS completely RUDE to stare at a stranger.... no matter WHAT you are staring at. I think people forget this when it comes to tattoos.

Re: Be honest...will I be a "tool" for getting a tattoo...

here's something to consider

by tattooing brooklyn on your body, you're advertising where you are from

brooklyn or more importantly NY

if you travel OOS, not everyone likes NYers, and you may be harrassed

I always try not to advertise anything about myself.
