Re: Obama's Pastor: U.S. to Blame for 9/11
did anyone see the SNL skit...the cartoon with Obama, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton.
I thought it was hysterical and wondered how true it could be...wanting their support to get the black vote, but distancing himself from them to get the vote of people who are not fans of these two....
I am trying to find it on the internet, but can't

i see your point
but, i look at it this way
Obama is running for public office, which means you have to present yourself personally and professionally to the best way you can.
Obama may not agree with it, but wouldn't you think that since the two of them are linked together, and since alot of Americans are extremely patriotic, it might be a good idea if he distanced himself from the guy, or at least responded?
Geraldine Ferrara made a statement that Obama was getting support because he was African American, and Hilary came on and apologized.
Has Obama addressed these yet? Because if he doesn't, it would appear that he endorses it, even if he doesn't.
Even if he says, I don't agree with him, but he has a right to his opinion and I support freedom of speech.
absolutely -- i understand that people want obama adressing this issue--and i totally agree that he should! i want to hear what he says about this.
i guess my issue is how this info is PRESENTED---its done in a way to smear Obama -- and i can't stand that. i feel like people are trying their best to associate him with things that the Americans deem as "terrorist rhetoric" or "fear" -- and many of things aren't about HIM--they are about things around him.
do i think he should address these issues? absolutely! but i don't think he should be lumped into it like he was about his middle name or his heritage.

He seeks out his religious and personal advice. Not his political advice. From what I've read Obama is a proponent of the seperation of church and state. His policies are not based on his personal, regligious views.
But considering 9/11 was carried out based on religious beliefs of the terrorists, then can you really seperate church and state? Riddle me this.
Absolutely. Just because 9/11 was religiously motivated doesn't mean our responses to it should be. I am a strong supporter of religous freedom and I don't think our governments policies should be influenced by ANY religion.

yes -- because Obama has control over what someone who IS NOT OBAMA thinks and believes in.
No he doesn't have control over what this pastor says, thinks and believes. He DOES have control over who he picks as his "religious" advisors to represent him and his campaign.
Yeah - I agree. at 1st I was thinking - well, HE can't help it if someone he knows says these things - but to choose to do things with him and being so close to him concerns me....

His campaign's religious advisor is Shaun Casey, not Rev. Wright.

Wait, I thought Obama is Muslim. What's he doing seeking religious counsel from a Christian pastor?
No - that was wrong - his dad was Muslim, I think? But he was raised with different religious beliefs and chose Christianity about 20+ years ago....

Re: Obama's Pastor: U.S. to Blame for 9/11
Obama's pastor is not spewing spiritual advice; he is giving a lecture on politics and so-called history. He has crossed the line. As a pastor he shapes the thoughts and actions of members of his church. Obama is effected by this man's words in all facets of his life. If Obama does not believe what the pastor is preaching then he needs to strongly repudiate the claims in public. Even though Obama camp claims this has happened it has not or there would not be such a call for it. This pastor is emitting all kinds of hateful hogwash.

I just think that Obama has too many things that will lead people not to vote for him
Like it or not...
some won't vote for him because of his race
some won't vote for him because they think he's Muslim, or beacuse his dad is Muslim
some won't vote for him because of this pastor thing
and some won't vote for him because of his inexperience
and that's before you even get to the issues

Re: Obama's Pastor: U.S. to Blame for 9/11
This is the man that is supposed to unite our country. A man that for the last 20 yrs of his life, has been spiritually guided by a anti-american hate-monger. No wonder Obama has a problem wearing an American flag lapel. No wonder he doesnt place his hand on his heart duting the National Anthem. No wonder his wife is proud of this country for the FIRST time in her life. If Obama really rejects most of what his pastor teaches, then why raise your own kids listening to it? Lets not forget that his pastor celebrates the teachings of Louis Farrakhan. I'd like to see the media's reaction if McCains preacher celebrated the teachings of David Duke. How can you preach about change and unity, when this is the person your raise your own family listening to?
