he is not pro choice.

that is enough for me.

AS a staunch pro-lifer, so we clearly differ in that view, I would say as long as you like McCain in other aspects, you could vote for him.

The Republicans never have done anything to change Roe v. Wade. They say they are pro-life and they're not... i think it's just a republican ploy to get votes. if they were truly pro-life they would work towards overtuning Roe v. Wade, they would be aginst the death penalty (our current President has the worst capital punishment record of any governor in HISTORY!) and they would stop killing innocent civilians and troops in Iraq.

Neither one of the parties are truly pro-life. like all the other issues, they pick and choose what will get them votes.

I know some people will be annoyed by this comment. For some reason before this whole pastor situation..I had this creepy feeling that somehow Obahma is involved somehow with terrorism and becoming president is the best way to get the inside scoop about the country. Now I am doubly scared after the pastor situation..I'm sorry if I offended anyone..just voicing my opinion..crazy as it may be.

I'm just curious why you have this feeling, cuz like you said this is crazy.... Besides the fact that he may have a muslim name or his father might have been muslim, what would give you reason to believe this? Why not Bush, who clearly would have something to gain bc of his ties to the oil industry? (BTW...I'm not saying there isn't any truth to Bush being involved in terrorism, at all just threw that out there). If there is any validity other than a "creepy feeling" to what you are saying I'd like to know so that I can be an informed voter.

the only thing a president can do to overturn roe v. wade is appoint a conservative justice on the the supreme court. we are already dangerously close...I cannot in good conscience vote for a president that could tip the scales.

and I too am VERY pro life in my own personal life. I think I can safely say that I would NEVER get an abortion. I am against death in almost every case.

and many pro choice people are.

in fact, I don't know a single person who is Pro death. that would just be terrible. Chat Icon Chat Icon **peace sign smiley**

I honestly feel that there Obama and his wife and cronies are anti American. He makes me nervous and I feel there is so much negative stuff that hasn't come out yet on him but will come out once (or if) he is elected. I can't forget his wife's comment from a few weeks ago where she said something to the lines of "for once in my life, I am proud of this country" etc. I don't trust him at all and feel he is extremely shady.

this is what will inevitably happen.

the sad truth is that is it almost impossible to climb the political ladder without getting at least your pant cuff (or ankle strap/ankle bracelet) dirty...there is always something these guys (and gals) are now trying to shake off their leg.

we are in the idolization process with Obama right now...but as always, what goes UP must come DOWN. as soon as we raise him high enough, we'll look to tear him down.

timing is everything.

Barrack Hussein Obama?

ok so it is obama not osama but it still makes me uneasy as stupid as that may sound

I really try to say out of drama, but if this is how you decide who to vote for that's really sad. It's really disappointing when I'm reminded that there are still people out there that still judge people on factors that have noting to do with their character.

even though I may not agree with what she said, MANY people did not vote for Lieberman based on his last name (could never be anything but Jewish). again, not saying it's right and def not "PC", but everyone has their own beliefs.

I'm not surprised the same thing happened to Lieberman. It's just still really disappointing.

Yes, of course this is true. I'm sure people would not have voted for Giuliani as an Italian American Catholic--which is also reflected in his name. BUT...where does this thinking stop?? With you (and by this I don't mean YOU specifically)? With your children? Ever?

JMO, but - never.

we're not all the same, and never will be. I think people will always vote for the person who aligns best with their beliefs and identity.

I meant to acutally delete all of that and just ask about what happened to Lieberman. your opinion, either way, didn't really have bearing on my shock or question...

I didn't realize Lieberman was found to have not been elected by association with a certain religion...and that is where the cruxt of my question lies.

sorry for the confusion.

this country voted in an IRISH catholic...just as "bad" in the 60's....and has idolized him...an adulterer and possibly someone with mob ties, ever since.

I think people wouldn't have voted for Guiliani b/c he only had 2 fallen towers to stand on.

he was probably the LEAST likely to get my vote. I would have voted for Huckabee waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy before Guiliani.

just an observation here but - is this type of statement (or any other prejudice/racial statement, etc) any worse than people who only vote for Obama because he's black?

Remember the Pastor Blames the US for 9/11 and not Obama.

Yes, but why would he select him to be one of his advisers? It's one thing to attend his services, it's another to actively seek out his advice.

Posted by Acerone

Also I recall a lot of people blamed Bush for 9/11.

And there are some of us who think that the Clinton administration could have done more on their watch to help prevent it.

I am not sure what you mean when you say "his name has two terrorists in it"

Really - a name is a name.... how can someone's name mean terrorism???

sorry - but that type of thinking is completely idiotic....

If someone's name is Ted, does that mean he's a serial killer? Or Jeffrey means he has a fridge full of people at home???? Chat Icon Chat Icon

you had to expect people to have an opinion on the fact that you dont like a candidate because of his name, correct? Chat Icon i dont think that is an educated opinion on a candidate. im not a fan of obama either, but those feelings are not because of his name.. they are because of some of his policies/stance on certain issues

Re: Obama's Pastor: U.S. to Blame for 9/11

I am trying to keep an open mind about Obama, I became a fan during the 2004 Democratic convention...but lately, I haven't been impressed.

I believe in his intentions, I just don't trust his ability to execute.

This pastor business makes my stomach turn. His message is hate....Obama is suppose to stand for unity...I personally would not have a hateful priest marry me or baptize my children.

Yes, but in this country there are loads of people that vote based on a name, race or gender. To think that many, many people don't isn't very educated
