Frustration!

Well I am about 7 or 8 DPO and I can tell I'm getting AF. This will be 7 months for DH and myself. I am so frustrated. I had an FSH 3 test which came back normal. So that gives me some comfort. I have a script for DH to have an SA which he does not seem too jazzed about. Would he go to a GP for that? Also my gyno mentioned that my problem could be the "pill effect." She said that sometimes women experience 1 year of decreased fertility after going off of the pill. She said some women experience this but not all. Has anyone ever heard of this pill effect before? Is there any other tests I should be taking? I'm 32, feeling like I may have waited too long to have children. I'm probably just PMSing. Thanks.

Re: Frustration!

Your DH will probably go to a lab for his SA. Ours was a Quest and then the rest were at his urologist. I've never heard of being less fertile for a year after the pill. I don't think 32 is too late at all. Perhaps you might want to see an RE for further testing just to put your mind at ease. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Good Luck!

Re: Frustration!

I went to the andrology lab at the fertility center in North Shore Manhasset for the SA. They were really nice and DH collected the specimin at home and we brought it in within an hour.

Also don't give up hope. How do you know af is coming at 7 dpo. Don't give up until the second she shows!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Frustration!

Thanks ladies. I can just tell AF is on her way. I feel so cranky and irritable. Unfortunately I'm getting really good at knowing when AF is due. I think the SA is probably the next step. Now the difficult part, getting DH to agree to it.

Re: Frustration!

I never heard of anything called the "pill effect" After 24, all traces of hormone from the pill leave your body. It may take a couple of months to regulate your cycle, but I've never heard of it decreasing fertility for a year.

Re: Frustration!

I've never heard of that either. Even when I was on Depo, it didn't take that long to leave my body once I stopped with the shots.

Re: Frustration!

Thanks. Sorry about my downer post. I was just having a bad morning. I still think AF is on her way, but your right who knows. I am begining to wonder about this pill effect my gyno was talking about. It seems no one has ever heard of this before. Oh well, we'll see what happens.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon for everyone.

Re: Frustration!

never heard of the "pill effect" either. My doc said around 2 months until the cycle regulates itself.

Re: Frustration!

First off, I totally understand your frustration. As a woman close to your age, I had similar concerns about age and fertility. I tend to be a nervous nelly and started seeing a RE after 6 months of no success. As for decreased fertility after coming off the pill, the only thing that makes sense is that your gyn is referring to some women having irregular cycles after coming off of it. Depending on how impatient you are getting, you can take some steps to get more information about your and DH's fertility by seeing a RE. GL!
