I think it's great that this woman is not making lame excuses for her kid - BUT I think selling his car is a bit excessive - She can take his keys away for a month or something .......- What if he really WAS just being the responsible designated driver ?? -
There were a million times I was the one driving my drunk friends around ..........-
Well, I guess she knows her own kid -

ITA. Now when thr punishment is over he has to get a new car! I think he would have learned his lesson by taikng the keys away for a month

Mom- this is totally something you would do!!!
My mom used to threaten me if I ever cut class, she said she would put on her housecoat, curlers in her hair, and red lipstick and personally escort me to each class!! Needless to say, I never cut. So when I saw this post, I totally thought of her!!!!

Fantastic. The only problem is, he is 19 and she has no rights I think to sell his car if it is in his name.
BUT I think it is awesome what she did. She could have saved someone's life.

There is no reason for a 19 year old to have alcohol in his car or to be drinking. If you are under 21 and caught drinking and driving you lose your license. You don't even have to be drunk just 2 sips.
She bought him the car if I understand it correctly, and IM sure it taught him a damn good lesson!

he is under age he shouldnt be with anyone drinking, unless they were legal but i doubt it. . . i mean i know that it is naive to think that underage kids dont drink but i also dont think its necessary for parents to condone it
i know if i got caught drinking my parents wouldnt have said "oh all teenagers drink" i would have gotten into a LOT of trouble. . .

No, now I'm sure HE has to buy his OWN car! There was a rule...no alcohol and he didn't follow it. What would he learn if she just took the keys away for a limited time?
