I've heard of it, but I've also heard that it's NOT necessary.

I actually posted about it recently, hold on I'll find the post....

Re: Have you ever heard of this?

yes, but I think it's silly. The spermies are not going to "fall" where they should just because you lift your butt up.

okay this isn't exactly the same question. I asked if you could still get PG even if you went to the bathroom right after BDing.

Re: Have you ever heard of this?

Yup. I've done it a couple of times, but I don't think it's really necessary.

Re: Have you ever heard of this?

Im going to give my typical and crude answer.

I am sure that there have been many one night stands where couples did their thing, the chick does the walk of shame (because there was no cuddling afterwards) and she winds up PG. Then again, some people swear by having the legs up.

I can say this, since I am an IUI patient. They do ask me to lay on the table for 5-10 minutes with each IUI and the sperm has less distance to travel. I don't put my legs in the air because the nurses can pop in and out so I could feasibly look like a moron.

ITA!

Tara, in all honesty... I try to lay in bed for about 15 minutes after (without legs propped up) but then after that I'm off to the restroom to clean up! We'll see how it goes this month, and I'll let you knowChat Icon Chat Icon

I usually just lay in bed for about 15 minutes. Sometimes I'll put a pillow under my butt. I'm sure it's not necessary, though. Makes me feel better, though! Chat Icon

ITA. The nurses had me lay there for 15 minutes (with a timer) and even put the table on a slight incline. I remember reading IUI outcomes were better with this than those that got up right away. Can't hurt for you to do it, right?

Re: Have you ever heard of this?

If you have your legs in the air for a 1/2 hour, can you still feel your feet afterwards Chat Icon

We BD at night usually.... so I just stay in bed a while, usually with a pillow under me, although I find it a bit uncomfy, and may stop that routine.

Reality is what Leslie said, propping-up afterwards likely won't change anything. none the less, I agree with nybride, it doesn't make sense, but it makes me feel more pro-active Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever heard of this?

not necessary...but with that said, I always prop my butt up on pillows because DH feels bad that I can't move and I get control of the remote for once! Chat Icon Chat Icon So I just make him think that I HAVE to do this for at least 30 minutes.

I don't think it's necessary...doesn't mean I don't do it! Seriously though, only for 15 minutes or so before heading to the bathroom!

Re: Have you ever heard of this?

i've never done this and i got PG, although i should add that i didn't get up right away, i waited a minute or two each time.

i also heard that one of the optimal ways to get PG is to do it, ahem Chat Icon doggy style and DH an i are big fans of that position so this may have helped Chat Icon

I lay there afterwards, but I flip over onto my stomach. I remember awhile ago a dr telling me I had a tipped uterus and I read you should lay on your belly afterwards so.......but I have done my fair share of legs up in the air lol
