SA- Where to go?

If this isn't our month DH and I decided to go get a SA. For various reasons that he would kill me if I posted herChat Icon We are starting month 8 next month and we would just like to know. We figured that a SA is the easiest most inexpenisve testing to do right now.. Then if all is okay we won't worry again until at least a year maybe more of trying..

So the question where does DH go to get this done? His doctor, a urologist, my OB???? I have no clue.

My RE sent my DH to stony brook hospital to their andrology lab. You have 1 hour to get DHs sample there if he'd prefer to do it at home instead of in the place. For ours they also took my blood to make sure that my body wouldn't be attacking his sperm HTH!

Re: SA- Where to go?

My OB referred my DH to North Shore University Hospital. And your husband never has to be seen LOL you can just drop it off yourself!

Re: SA- Where to go?

Your gyn can do this usually or a urologist.

Re: SA- Where to go?

The urologoist or ob/gyn. DH had an prescription for it, he did what he had to do in a sterile cup that was given to him, and then we had to make an appointment to drop it off, we dropped it at South Nassau. We made the appt a week in advance.

Re: SA- Where to go?

Your OB/GYN should be able to give you a script for it. You should be able to collect the sample at home and take it to the lab within an hour, as long as you keep the sample warm! Oh, the things we do!

UGh. I was afraid of that. I hate my OB and am using a midwife for my next pregnancy. I was hoping to avoid using an OB until after I give birth.. then I will find a new one. I REALLY REALLY don't get along with my OB and I don't want to go about finding a new one yet. They have all my info since college including my m/c and all that stuff. So I was hoping to get pg use the midwife and then find a new ob. UGH.. It just ***** that the OB I used when I was pg before can't really help me. Midwives specialize in the "normal" and refer to OB's otherwise. Maybe I will have DH call the uroliogist that my dad used way back when.. I don't know..... I was hoping the answer would not be to use my OB or find an RE.

Re: SA- Where to go?

Sorry to hear you don't like your OB, but maybe you should consider finding a new one now. Definitely use a midwife if you would like, but I'd want to know I have an OB I am comfortable with should I need his/her services. I wouldn't want to get stuck finding an OB or using one I didn't like if, God forbid, something went wrong during the PG and I needed one right away!
