Suri: Scientology Means Tom and Katie Don't Say 'No'
Everyone knows that Suri Cruise, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ adorable little daughter, leads a charmed existence but her upbringing as a Scientologist remains largely a mystery. How does the religion started by L. Ron Hubbard influence Suri’s life on a daily basis?
Us Weekly has learned that while Suri -- who as a baby was fed a mixture of barley water, milk and corn syrup which Hubbard advocated instead of formula and breast milk -- is too young to take classes at the Scientology Centre, the 18-month-old is constantly surrounded by believers, including her two nannies.
“Tom doesn’t like associating with people who aren’t Scientologists,” says an insider.
Additionally, Holmes, 29, and Cruise, 45, have a hard time saying no to Suri. But it’s not simply because they’re pushovers.
“It’s all about being positive and supportive,” says the couple’s friend (Hubbard advised parents to “try to be the child’s friend.”) As for discipline, one former church member tells Us that Scientologists do not scold their children, but instead explain that bad behavior (like throwing a toy) is the “wrong action.” (A Scientology rep tells Us, “How a parent disciplines their child is left up to the parent.”)
Cruise and Holmes, says their pal, are very lenient and do not like to give Suri too many rules: “Suri pretty much does whatever she wants, whenever she wants. If she fusses before bed, they let her stay up later. If they want her to go swimming and she cries, they’ll take her out. If she whines about food, they’ll ask her what else she wants to eat. They always want to please her.”
In other words, they’re typical parents.

The positive discipline I can understand, but barley, corn syrup, milk and water is better than breast milk?

Oh puhhleeeze. She does whatever she wants, when she wants? Well it's easy for them because they can afford housekeepers, nannies, etc. I can't even imagine what my house would look like if my son did whatever he wanted and was not told no. No to mention, I would be committed for going insane.

I find this extreamly hard to believe! What mother in her right mind would not want to give her child what is best? If it's breast milk or formula....

Oh, give me a break! Typical parents, my @ss. Right now, she is cute and adorable. However, give it a few years when they realize they are raising a spoiled, selfish, self-indulgent brat who throws tantrums and screaming fits when she can't get what she wants. Children need boundaries and rules to grow into responsible adults. These two are morons.

This is what I was going to say. Typical parents, my azz!!
If she fusses over food they don't make her something else to eat, the nannies do, so what do they care.
I can see her future now, as an adult whining to Mr. Police Officer how she's above the law....

Well said - she does what she wants because she has about 8 people taking care of her every wishes. I mean good for her, but that is not "typical parenting".
She is SOOOOOO cute though

Corn syrup...that poor girl's teeth! I read that they add honey to it too! Infants are not supposed to have honey either!
That is just sick!

I got the impression that Katie and Tom are both very "hands on" parents. I didn't get the idea that the nannies/housekeepers took care of her.
She is and adorable little girl though!

I saw an interview with Tom right after she had the baby and he said that she was breastfeeding - and wasnt there some crazy paparazzi shot of her and it was obvious she was wearing a nursing bra - I remember seeing it on LIF.

Typical parents?
So, basically the typical parent is a pushover who lets their kids do whatever it is they want and get away with it? Where are the boundaries here?
I am so glad I am having a child in a generation where there are no rules and regulations for my child. I am going to be a VERY original parent I see.
This whole story is just

i didnt know you could convert to a fake religion!
if this is true, they are doing more hurt than help. a child needs guidance and rules...not another friend to hang out with.
