How much $$ do you spend on Halloween Candy?

I never know how much to get or what a good price is on candy. How much do you spend on the give-away Halloween candy?

this is our first halloween in our new home. quite a few people have told me that there are A LOT of trick-or-treaters in this neighborhood.

i'm thinking of spending $50

give away candy bought early = candy I eat. Then, I have to purchase a second round of candy so it adds up to wayyy too much

I voted $1-10 because in the few years I have lived in my current place, I think we have gotten one group of siblings trick or treating.

$20...I got the little Playdoh cans - 20 for $4.00 - so I have 100 of them, which I doubt will be the amount of trick or treaters I'll get. But my kids can enjoy the leftovers.

We have had over 150 trick or treaters each year. I know that based on the items I buy, and every year I have run short when night time rolls around. So I now buy Utz pretzel bags to give out, which come in tubs of 60 packs (I bought 4 tubs this year). At least if I am not tempted to eat them all before Halloween b/c as much as I love pretzels, how many can I eat?

Our first year here I made bags (about 90 I think) like a dummy. Of course I ran out very quickly and had to start giving granola bars and other Costco goodies I had in the house for us. But all items I would buy at Costco, such as tootsie pops, fruit by the foot, laffy taffy, etc. You can get a lot in a case for cheap.

I love Halloween and seeing kids have a good time!

I just buy 1 small bag, b/c we always lived in apartment buildings. I don't know if kids come in our new complex.

Last year was the first year in our home, and we didnt get alot, and i was home early and left my door open for trick or treaters, I had so much left over, i ended up eating it, and i had bad "HALLOWEEN AFTERGLOW"...(breakouts) my father calls it that.

This year we are not in our house since it was knocked down, and are finishing up the construction.

I made the mistake of buying everything me and FH liked, so that was a bad idea too

I bought PlayDoh and a bag of mixed treats to give to my little neighbors. It cost about 20 bucks all total.

In the 2 years in our house, we didn't have many trick or treaters. I purchase about $25-30 of candy. Whatever is leftover, I bring into work.

about $20-25. Probably too much I alwyas get way too much and hardly get any kids.

well.. this is our first year in this house, we bought it from my ILs, so we were lucky we could just ask them how much to buy and how many kids they usually get.
MIL said they usually got about 100 trick or treaters here, so we bought two big variety bags from costco that have about 150 peices each, so each kid can take a few.... so we spent about $20.
i'm excited because everywhere else i've lived NEVER got any trick or treaters!

I think I spent about $20-$30 and I think I got WAY too much. We'll have to see how much is left over.

I bought about $10 worth, I hope its enough. Its our first year in the house, so I have no idea how many kids come.
We don't get home until later though, so we would miss the after school rush.

i spent $20 this year and will probably have a lot left over. I went to price club and bought 2 boxes of regular sized candy bars-baby ruth,milky way etc.

I bought one bag at BJs that was 125 pieces and one at Target that had 110 pieces. It cost me $17 total and it's candy we'll eat if there is any left over.

We're new to the neighborhood and there are a lot of little kids, so I wanted to be prepared.

I only bought 4 bags, on sale for $2 each, so $8.

Last year I was at Target after Halloween and tons of people were returning the candy they didn't use, since Target takes returns for 90 days with receipt. I thought that was a good idea.

this is such a great question Katie. This is our first halloween in our place, but there is a ton of kids, so I'm thinking about spending maybe $25. Do you think that's too low?

Around $20. It's our second year at our house and we really didn't get many kids last year, but I still wanted to be prepared.

Whatever's left comes to work with me the next day.

Way too much!!!!

Each goody bag has 2 full size chocolate bars, full size candy (skittles, etc.), some kind of lollipop (ring pop, pushpop, etc) and glow sticks.
