no they arent really for stores...the basinet comes off th etop and the frame folds up...not very easy to take with you but you can if you want to, the frame is very heavy...

I agree....as beautiful as they are, I would spend the 1k on a Bugaboo or Rockstar stroller

Just a word of advice. If you plan on having baby #2 in the near future you may not want to go buying 1,000 single strollers, because you'll be needing a double stroller. Just an observation from the Parenting board.

They're good for walking down the streets of London.
Sorry, that's really not to offend anyone, but I always pictured everyone in England owning a pram. I think because of Gwenyth Paltrow, and they're so classy and vintage looking.

I agree....as beautiful as they are, I would spend the 1k on a Bugaboo or Rockstar stroller
and the rockstar is only $500!!!!

We registered for a travel system, which has the infant car seat and when the baby gets bigger they can sit in the regular stroller. A coworker gave me a snap and go for quick trips to the stores and such. I will buy an umbrella stroller when the baby is older just so we have something lightweight.
I agree, I have the same, snap and go and the travel system, eventually you can get something lightweight

I didn't realize what a hot button topic prams are.
Anyhoo- to help me further...
A snap and go is:
a frame that the infant car seat will snap into to create a stroller.
Suitable for infants only.
A Travel system is:
A stroller with a removable seat that can be replaced with an infant car seat.
(Does the travel system include the car seat?)
Suitable for infants and toddlers.
A Pram is:
an old fashioned style stroller or carriage, not easily foldable, basically for walking around the neighborhood. A bassinet on wheels.
Suitable for infants only.
Sooooo- if I get a travel system, I don't need the snap and go OR any additional stroller? Do these always fold up nice and easy for car storage?
Is a snap and go more convenient, and good to have any way?
Please support your specific purchases with pictires.

I know my Chicco Cortina travel system comes either as a pair, or you can purchase the seat and stroller separately.
I want the snap and go on top of the Cortina for when I want it to be more compact, like being in crowded areas. I hate when people block shopping aisles with their humongo strollers!! I vow not to be that mom!

Oh my God- it is one of my hugest pet peeves!
Just yesterday, in Marshalls, I felt so bad for hating a woman who did this. I thought to myself- "Self, you are a monster- you are going to be a mom, stop hating other moms".

A snap and go has no stroller seat. You just put the carseat into a stroller frame. Here you purchase the frame and car seat seperately.
A travel system is the snap and go frame with a seat inside. The matching carseat fits inside the seat when the seat is fully reclined. You can purchase a travel system ie matching stroller and carseat and base together or as seperate items.
My DS was born in August so I got a travel system. I think for kids born in the fall and winter a snap and go and carseat is great because you really don't have the opportunity to take the child out in bad weather but when you need a stroller it is lightweight and inexpensive. However, for children born in the spring or summer, having the travel system is wonderful.
When I take DS on walks - I just put him in the stroller part. When we go to the mall I use both the carseat and stroller.
When I go to the supermarket I just put his carset inside the shopping cart and stuff things arround the seat. If my DH goes shopping with me, then he takes the grocery cart and I have DS in the stroller with the carseat. It is just more practical that way.
We live on a steep hill so the pram was not really practical for us. I now walk DS wearing him in the bijorn facing out. It is a better work out for me and he enjoys it more.
Eventually I will get DS a mclaren "umbrella" stroller for next spring.
I hope that my BTDT advice was somewhat helpful.

btw, for pram lovers (and i am one, even though i am not getting one)...don't forget that some of the peg peregos, bumblerides, etc. convert from a cute pram to a regular stroller.

Yes...there are alot of "pram" type strollers that are a little less bukly and fold up. The Pliko Pramette, Mutsy 4Rider, Peg Culla.. etc.

I only have a travel system and love it. I don't think the infant seat fit in the snap and go, but I never really cared. I have some small umbrella stroller too, but I've never used it.

I am so glad to hear that other people find it ludicrous how many strollers (among other things) we're told we *need*. I'm getting A stroller and when the baby is older / a toddler I'll go out and buy myself an inexpensive umbrella stroller. Who has room for storing all this crap??
