Sorry - another RP - this time about strollers... really need help from the BTDT moms... UPDATE on bottom

DH and I are talking - we were wondering if maybe we should just get the jogger as our everyday stroller...

We live in LI, so the stroller will be used occasionally - and really for walks and on trails - we won't be strolling around that much on pavement - we live active lifestyles, and want something that can easily go on all terrain and move if we power walk, jog, whatever...

I received the Pliko3 at my shower, but was thinking of maybe exchanging it for the Maclaren jogger that accomodates from birth on up... its pricier than the one I originally registered for....

I know that there are some of you that will tell me not to give up the Pliko3, but realistically, we arent sure we are going to really use it as much as the jogger - our lifestyle is just very active - we arent "stroller" people - we are "runner" people - and want something that won't be bulky...

The jogger doesnt have a tray, but I'm thinking I could strap things to the bars - like toys and what not when the baby gets older.... and even with a tray, the baby could lose his/her bottle or sippy cup if we arent watching...

anyone just use the jogger more than their other stroller? Anyone think this is a better idea? Even if you didnt opt for this, do you think this is doable with just the jogger?

Curious to hear your thoughts either way....

Our ped. said that even though they can sit in joggers from birth on up, they don't have great neck support so until they are 3 months not to use one.

I was thinking about that, but I probably wont be going out that much with the baby in the stroller until he/she is about 2-3 mts anyway... So its an expensive option to have 2 strollers just for the 1st few mts of the baby's life.... and if I do go for walks when the baby is a few weeks old, it would be on smooth terrain around my neighborhood so the baby wouldnt be jostled so much anyway...

I would recommend both. The joggers do not turn easily and are hard to manage in stores and such and if you travel you don't want to deal with a jogger. Plus the joggers usually don't have baskets for storage if you go shopping.

I agree. I would also consider getting the Baby Bjorn and wearing the baby. I still put Molly in hers and walk around with her.

ETA: You'll be surprised at how often you use the stroller to run errands and whatnot.

If you have your heart set on a jogging stroller long term, I would opt for a snap & go until they're out of the infant car seat & after that a jogging stroller.

I agree, I got a jogger for jogging purposes and I couldn't imagine lugging that thing around to stores...It's big and heavy and bulky.

i agree. what would you use if you were planning on shopping or just needed to run errands? i think a snap and go is a very practical option, and then you can use the jogger after the baby develops good head control.

I would probably do the jogger and an umbrella stroller.

That sounds like a good idea - I was thinking that and the baby bjorn - since we have no money, I dont see myself going clothing shopping anyway, or any type of shopping in malls or what not... Chat Icon I'm not much of a shopper to begin with, but now with poverty rearing its ugly head at us once this baby is born, it looks like strictly food shopping when we can - and DH does that by himself!!!

This is probably a very good choice. You won't believe how often you will use your stroller, even if you aren't going shopping. It is much easier than carrying the baby all over the place.

I don't know what I would do without my travel system! Going from car to stroller and into the house is a breeze! Quite worth the investment and I never realized how much I really use it!

Re: Sorry - another RP - this time about strollers... really need help from the BTDT moms... UPDATE on bottom

Thank you for all of your advice ladies - wanted to share with you what we did -

we exchanged the Pliko for a Phil and Teds stroller - its for birth and up - you have the baby lie down when its young - very sturdy, very stable for newborns, plus it folds up beautifully and easy to maneuver - I LOVE it - it wound up being more $$$ than the Pliko, but it is worth it... PLUS - my friend told me her SIL has a Graco she isnt using anymore and its in good condition, so she is going to give it to me, so we will have a "regular" stroller as well in case we need it...

Honestly, I think you need both. I think a tray and a "store friendly" stroller are two imoprtant things you will really need.
