Just before the maximum weight (around 20 lbs), or until you can no longer carry the infant carrier and DC. Our carrier went up to 22 lbs, and we transitioned at around 20 lbs.

We are still using it, DS is on the smaller side (almost 4 months and only about 12lbs) so I'd like to try to see if we can get through the winter with it. I don't really want to have to start taking him out of a car seat in bad weather

Kate was around 9 months old when she went into the "big" carseat in my car. She stayed in the Snugride for another couple of months in DH's car, but we no longer took it out of the car at that point.
Abby is quite a bit bigger than Katherine was and this infant carrier is truly a PITA to carry around, so we might make the switch earlier

we transitioned Mikayla to her convertible seat about 3 weeks ago so about 4 1/2 months or so...she loves her big girl seat and that carrier was getting too darn heavy for me to carry

8 months and that was only because I couldn't lift him in it anymore. I was so sad to see it go

Around 6 months or so...and it was the only because DD hated it (she was still little enough to fit in it).

When she starts daycare I'm switching seats. I figure when I go back to work, I will run all my errands on my lunch break, so I won't be pulling her in and out of the car as much. That thing weighs a ton!

What is the height limit on the infant seat? DD is 4 months and only 13lbs 1 oz but she is 25 in.

We just did on Friday! 
DD is almost 9 months and we wanted to switch before we go on a roadtrip. DH was tired of lugging the carseat around anyway
