Can I join the grammar police? I constantly see people writing things like: What do you think of my menu's? And it drives me crazyyy!
This makes me twitch.
And lately, people haven't been converting their -y endings to -ies when they make it plural - trys instead of tries.
I don't care how much of a dork it makes me, I'll always care about grammar and punctuation no matter what I'm reading.

Oh, it doesn't "phase" me that people do not understand correct usage of words.
This is another one that gets me all the time.
And my DH has suddenly become an offender of incorrect grammar, he is always saying "It is broke," and "yous all." I have to correct him all the time, it drives me up the wall!!

I have an issue with "persay" and "per say".

Re: "We are in agreeance"
You guys would die if you had my friend Mary as your friend. First of all she speaks in double negatives, "No one doesn't help me". She also makes up her own words ie: Nipplely instead of Nippy, bunt instead of brunt. I don't want to hurt her feelings so I don't say anything, but sometimes I get embarrassed for her.

I hateeeeeeeee IMPUT and old WISE tale
It's INPUT and old WIVES tale
I am definitely not the picture of correct grammar but those type of things bother me way more than caps and punc. on an internet chat board.

I cringe when I see:
ETA: Corrected for spelling and grammer.
COME ON NOW!!!
I'm guilty as charged! I "ETA" after I notice my own mistakes. I sometimes leave my mistakes but that often seems impossible to do. I proofread sometimes, but it is more fun to move on to other posts!!!!

Once again, my eyes saw it the way it was supposed to be so I flew right passed it. OMG--was I supposed to say "past" or "passed?" I got different answers from 2 different grammar sites, but I like the explanation for "passed" better.

It's past
And my personal pet peeve - when people write "this is a picture of DH and I on our honeymoon." It's DH and ME not DH and I.

Re: "We are in agreeance"
I don't speak perfectly & when I'm here this is fun time so I could care less if people including myself make mistakes. I usually assume its more of a typo than the person not actually knowing the word. I can always figure out what they mean anyway. I didn't even know there was a spellcheck here till a couple of months ago & honestly I rarely use it...as most of you probably notice. There are other things that annoy me much more than spelling & grammar. plus I worked with a gal for many years that made up her own words & we loved her for entertaining us, so when I see made up words here, I just laugh.

No. I did NOT just read that. It took every cell in my body to restrain from correcting that. And also the improper use of passed rather than past.
I have to refrain myself from correcting grammar every day. And the misuse of the apostrophe continues to haunt me.
Your (my personal favorite) so right

I like to make up words. I hate when people make up words and don't even know it. Intentional word making uppage is fine. I just put a made up word on LIW. How long until I am called out?

see that is funny I just know that I'm the suckiest typer on the face of the earth & while I happen to be very good with spelling & pretty good with grammar I butcher stuff here all the time. I had no idea it was so offensive to people. I participate in a message board that is for Chicken keeping & small scale farming, its mostly people from VERY rural places. The Police of this thread would be MORTIFIED if you have had a gander at the spelling over there

Why does this always bother everyone so much? Esp on a chat room? Just curious.
I can see if this was school or work but it is neither.
because it's obnoxious
As an English/Special Ed. Teacher, I cringe on here on a daily basis.
If you want to use poor grammar within your post, so be it. But it ESPECIALLY (or expecially for some people) drives me nuts when TITLES of threads are misspelled or grammatically poor.
As a previous poster mentioned, there IS a spellcheck feature on LIF. Even if you TOTALLY $uck at spelling, spend another minute and let the damn_computer check it for you!
Sorry, sore topic!!!
